Wow! Mostly common sense and thoughtfulness from a liberal?

John was just a few words, just a metaphor or two away from saying what I have been saying about America in reference to the make up of our culture. He also calls out the left for it's intolerance and Hippocracy. [people that voted for Trump], are not afraid of Mexicans and not afraid of Muslims and not afraid of blacks. They’re afraid of their insurance premiums.”

"America is not natural. Natural is tribal. We’re fighting against thousands of years of human behavior and history to create something that no one ever [has]. That is what is exceptional about America. This ain’t easy and that’s an incredible thing.”

My commentary on his commentary:

America is not a multicultural Nation...we are one nation, one culture, tied together by one language and one set of laws, (for all it flaws), made up of many cultures, from many nations.

What most do not understand is that the many cultures that have settled here has made America what it is; aside from, some we might wish would go back to where they came from, ie. shria loving muslims, terrorist, criminal illegal aliens, those that use us and our good nature, those that refuse to speak our language and those that think they have a right to be here; and especially those that think they have a right to rule over us and all mankind, [global delite].

It is refreshing to hear, especially from a liberal, a calm, encouraging, common sense view of the day and the future of America's Greatness.

Me dino is impressed with Jon Stewart too.
But for old dino~that impression blows away if he is among the willfully blind who voted for so obviously corrupt a dangerous evil hag.
Hopefully, this lib voted libertarian even though me dino didn't.

Stewart has always had a modicum of common sense tinged with humor and vituperation. However, his basic premises are flawed, and as a result his conclusions are often skewed. Hell, I could write a book about what's wrong with him and most of his conclusions but I wouldn't want to use the time I had left doing something I don't enjoy.

The America that voted for Trump is also the America the voted for Obama. People are not nearly as concerned about Mexicans & Muslims as they are about Money. Stewart enumerates this well. At some point, hopefully, the vitriol will give way to thoughtful dialogue, but I have my doubts. Hatred has been given hope, and it will take a long time to put that genie back in the bottle. Now that the racists, and xenophobes feel that they have been empowered, will we stand up against them or stand by and watch?

Jim Webb was a Democratic candidate who ran against Sanders and Clinton, early on (Clinton's folks effectively eliminated her opponents), and had a number of preferable views that I appreciated. One of those beliefs was in a strong Second Amendment (being a veteran sometimes helps in opening the mind).

If Mr. Webb had won the nomination...I could have, seriously, reconsidered my vote.
