These riots are happening before trump even has done anything ! When he actually gets rid of obamas executive actions, the riots might intensify. The rioting will create a class of "closeted deplorables" and quietly strengthen trumps support

I disagree, the angst people felt over the Federal government covers a wide swath of special interests from Land use, money, borrowing/debt, crime and apparent corruption at the highest levels, all of these played into people voting for Trump more as a vote against the Federal government, than for him. That's ok, but the coup would be a revolt by the people against their perceived Master. I believe a lot of people thought the Beast would continue the Federal monster growth and encroachment on our lives. I know I do.

He's used to getting things done - no excuses. He has already started. He'll won't hit the ground running, he'll be at the goal post waiting for the rest of the team to catch up.

Apparently it's a Democrat tactic to hold back the results until they have calculated the number of extra votes required. Difficult, though, in landslide situations where they would need to produce votes from 180% of the registered voters to make the needed number.

Producers do all kinds of things with their time. Not all of them are things you would necessarily consider "worthy".

The polls were pretty consistently wrong. Different pollsters should have made different mistakes, resulting in different errors.

I settled on the Rasmussen poll pretty early on because it was consistent in its methodology. That let me check in on it for shifts in general trends.

Once a LOT of people have made up their minds, it isn't likely that A LOT of them will change them. That made the polls showing rapid swings suspect, at best.

I think that the reason Trump squeaked by is that we voted him a landslide. It took a landslide to overcome the fraud.

Once the protests turned violent, I pulled my signs inside (I'm only one person and can't mount a 24 hr guard). When they settle down again, the Trump/Pence sign will go back out until Trump has taken the oath of office.

Although I made my mind up quite a while ago, the Fed was no part of it. I think what we have just witnessed was a coup ... and my side has (for now) come out on top.

I suspect he's a match for anyone. He'll keep his mouth shut until he's ready to lower the boom. Then, bam, lower it.

    In regards the thread title...

Of course they were rigged it is in the interest of the pollster to keep being paid for their services. This means immense pressure to shade the numbers and methodology to yield the result your client is seeking. Or as close to it as you can reasonably manage.

So the polls were adjusted by the pollsters. For Clinton you over sample Democrats and under sample republicans. If you need more margin you oversample independents too. Especially in demographic groups friendly to you client.

Not to mention after harassing trump supporters relentlessly on the media, many either would not answer polls or did not answer honestly.

    Like the old saying does.....

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

We all know which of the three enables the largest lie.

That made old dino laugh. Don't really know why beyond the essence of humor being the unexpected.

There is nothing philosophically wrong with an Objectivist responding to a political poll. However, Objectivists at least strive to be producers, and producers have far more worthy things to do with their time.

agree. i'm ok with the definition of rigged accounting for confirmation bias.

pollsters influencing the data, the media unduly influencing opinion, the angry echo chamber silencing disagreement.

Reagan understood "you're fired" pretty well when he was dealing with the air traffic controllers strike.

In principle, what's wrong with an Objectivist responding to a political poll? I can think of plenty of reasons for an Objectivist to do so if he/she wishes to.
