What would you say to the world right now if you had 5 minutes of airtime on all the commercial channels everywhere simultaneously?

    Great Question!

“...You have destroyed all that which you held to be evil and achieved all that which you held to be good. Why, then, do you shrink in horror from the sight of the world around you? That world is not the product of your sins, it is the product and the image of your virtues. It is your moral ideal brought into reality in its full and final perfection. You have fought for it, you have dreamed of it, and you have wished it, and I-I am the man who has granted you your wish..."

Five minutes isn’t time enough for a philosophical speech. How about listing Hillary’s lies?
    .
(On second thought, that would take longer than Galt’s speech. Possibly longer than the age of the universe.)

Five minutes is approximately 2 typed, double-spaces pages of text with appropriate pauses for emphasis. That's a lot for a forum post in its entirety, but I think what I would do is tell people:

You won't get better results out of life if you want other people to do what you aren't willing to.
Financial stability comes from hard work and savings - not welfare and spending.
Emotional stability comes from sound, stable, long-term relationships.
Mental stability comes from living universal principles, respecting rights, and expecting the same from others.
And national stability comes when we recognize that we are all individually responsible for our own problems - and this starts first and foremost in our leaders. We have long been guilty of electing leaders who tell us that they can fix our problems for us: give us food, wages, healthcare, protection, etc. What we must realize is that these are lies. What government gives away, they must first steal from someone else. We are a nation of thieves who condone theft as long as we are the recipients. We need to stop stealing - from business owners, from inventors, from our neighbors, and from our children.

We need to get back to the values of self-determination, independence, and individual integrity and away from the lies of government welfare and services. We need to get away from the envy of what others have and go towards the hard work that will earn us those things we want. We need to get out of the habit of mortgaging our futures through debt to get things we want now.

And if we do this: if we return to the values that once made this the greatest nation on Earth, we will again return to that position. Jobs will return as people seek to provide for themselves and government is restrained. Manufacturing and industry will push forward. And we - as individuals, families, communities, and a nation - will look back with pride at what we have accomplished and eagerly await what lies ahead.

Force isn't freedom. Stop complying. Protect and cherish your own families, health and wealth. Turn off the tv and start reading books.

You have worked and strived to create the world you now inhabit.
You have worked and strived to live as you live now.
You have worked and strived to become what you are.
Are you satisfied with the results of your efforts?
If yyou are not or you have done nothing but accept your lot as determined by others arise and become what you wish. Throw those who do not value you or your efforts aside , out of your thought and rise to your full potential. Arise!

Those that rule us, are not like us at all...it would seem they might be a total different species altogether and a much lesser species at that...the world [d]elite Are, the great unwashed.
We ALL should find them wanting and unwanted.

My fellow Humans...please wake up. America's founders had it right...we are all capable of ruling ourselves, behaving ourselves; if one is awake and has a conscience.

We will Never have open borders, peace or a world society until we all are awakened and respect the property of others...the basic unit of property being...the individual.

I Like the idea of "Truth and Reconciliation" Tell us the truth, what you've done, what's been hidden and we'll let you keep what you have so long as you never engage society again...step aside....we'll take it from here.

You are going to lose everything, anyway...
If you persist...it ain't gona be pretty.

I want to thank all of you for your comments ... and I hope they will continue. The truth is that I was asking myself that question and could not find an answer within myself ... so I put the question out there to sort of pick through your minds (with your permission) for clues.

My own thoughts range from "I quit. And if you are a human, you will too." to, well, I don't know where to go from there. I don't want to adopt anyone else's manifesto -- it needs to be my own personal assertion of independence and the end of my interdependence with those who would suck the life from me against my will ... that I will no longer donate my lifeblood to their goals.

So, I'm not settled in my mind what I would post on my door the day I am forever "gone fishing."

Perhaps I would simply slip away in the night, setting fire to my home as i leave so that the blood-suckers would have nothing left to take ... and I would have no temptation to return.

I don't know. But I thank you for your suggestions and hope you will continue to post your ideas.

What words would turn the world around?

I've been thinking about what me dino would say since yesterday evening.
    It finally came to me.
Just checked out the first ten amendments in my little brown U.S. Constitution paperback booklet.
Yes, I can read the Bill of Rights within five minutes.
Bet what I would recite would be like hot off the presses news to a lot of born in America citizens.

Never initiate force or fraud, have rational foundational values, never use emotion as a tool of cognition, recognize that "need" does not equal "obligation," carry a gun.

I think it would be a waste of 5 minutes at this point in time. So many of the people are socialists, statists, and otherwise people who dont respect me that I would just be painting a target on my back. In 5 minutes it would not be possible to engage in any sort of statement that would sink in.

Years of education of young people is whats really required. John Galts speech would simply go over the heads of the vast majority of people listening. A good worldwide economic crash would do more than any speech to wake people up.

I, like you, am disgusted with the way that Washington DC has become less and less guided by the will of the people, and has become to feel entitled to their power, and comfortable in their ability to force their will on the American people.

I, like you, have become disgusted with the way that politicians make promises to get elected, then renege on those promises when they get elected, basically doing the opposite to what they said they would do.

So before you drop out of the political process in terminal disgust, don't leave the out-of-control political machine the means to achieve their ends. Declare your independence from TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION and stop sending your money to Washington. Instead, use the money to support local charities where you live.

Only my fellow Gulchers, my coworkers, my family, and a few other friends deserve to know why I or anyone else has shrugged.

Was that the question? Interesting response if this is what you'd say. Now I'm going to mull this over...haha...

The question was what I would say if I had 5 minutes. I would say nothing, and just walk away.

My point is that it would be up to those who do not deserve to know why I have shrugged to figure out why I have shrugged. Telling them why I have shrugged presumes that there is a remnant of society at large worth saving. I don't think there is such a worthy remnant, besides us, my coworkers, my family, and a few other friends.

The biggest problem I have with Atlas Shrugged is the ending. The looters and moochers would have to die off before the AS heroes would be willing to return.

OK, thanks. I get ya. You know what...I'm very close, if not in the same spot, myself. Very few people could grasp why I have already started to withdraw. I know some who would - friends of mine. But, the general public has no clue.

I'm getting very close to closing a business down at this point, due to regulations just strangling it.

Your response surprised me at first because I was still going off the premise that we could say something that would have an effect. Surely, we can't...

A few people would understand why we have or will shrug. Those are the few that we would invite to the Gulch. Those who do not understand by now will probably never understand.

The end goal for partially furred electrically powered water filled gas processing meat bags inhabited by sentient multidimensional beings is to ride them until they break, and get in line to ride another.

While we're waiting, strive to end human suffering, disease, and misery, so that when we find ourselves so burdened, others would do likewise for our sake.

Life is its own answer. Accept it and enjoy it, day by day. Live as well as possible. Expect no more. Destroy nothing. Humble nothing. Look for fault in nothing. Leave unsullied and untouched all that is beautiful. Hold that which lives - in all reverence. For life is given by the sovereign of our universe: given to be savored, to be luxuriated in, to be - - respected.

Try to be the kind of person you wouldn't mind spending eternity with - expressing compassion, kindness, charity, generosity and concern for the well being of others. Which would also make one a pleasant companion in this world as well.

    Greetings ScaryBlackRifle,
I would like to submit another quote from Rand along the same lines as robgambrill's.
“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it's yours.” ― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

    Respectfully,
    O.A.
