Why Republicans have trouble in Presidential elections

Republicans tend to have problems presidential elections because unlike the Democrats they choose to criticize and candidates until they become almost unelectable. Case in point candidate Donald Trump speaker of the house uses to campaign for him or even support him. The same is true Majority Leader the Senate. This leads members of the house Senate waiver in their commitment to support the nominee. On the other hand Democrats never criticize their candidate. They become apologist extraordinaire, making every excuse known to mankind to excuse extraordinarily bad words and actions.
This type of action cost Romney his election and is on the verge of costing Trump his. The defeat of Romney Lee slightly worsened a horrible state within this country. The defeat of Trump will ultimately lead complete destruction United States as we know it. WikiLeaks documents clearly indicate the path that Pres. Clinton follow regards to the second amendment and the first. She has already shown that she views any office you hold as a path to making money and obtaining power.
As long as Republicans “eat their own” they will have difficulties electing a president. The Republicans this term face another major issue. It is that the Republican base does not trust them and doesn’t really support them because over the last two election cycles they have made promises failed to keep them. Give us the house they said and will repeal Obama care. Give us the Senate stop the Executive Order neither happened. It is a small wonder Republican base and a lot of others have turned to Trump to represent them. This is infuriated the Republican establishment is causing them to provide, at best, lukewarm support. This characteristic is the bane of the Republican Party and will most likely cause it’s dissolution if not this election then in the very near future. The consequences of this dissolution are unknowable at this time but do not bode well continued existence the freedoms we enjoy.

If you think Republicans eat their own, know that that behavior is because Republicans think. Those in this forum find fault with all politicians ... as they should. What you call "eating their own" is part of the refining process to get a candidate worthy of being a leader. Yes, you're right, both Republicans and Objectivists will have a hard time electing a president. The only person fit to govern an Objectivist is himself/herself.

So with that in mind, should "we" start the vetting (refining) process 3 years in advance instead of 2 years? Because apparently 2 years (ie. McCain, Romney, Trump) is not working! Perhaps "we" should learn from "our" failures? Whatever we're doing, it is for sure not working. #RandPaul2020

Dude, the winnowing starts during the campaign for the primaries. Find conservatives if you can and support the heck out of them. If there are none available, run for office yourself and let other Objectivists /Conservatives support YOU.

As much as I like Rand Paul more than any other politician, the Paul family has not been competitive in the presidential running. I think it is time to shrug.

Look at it this way: we are rejecting the Dems entirely and gutting the GOP. The spineless RINO weasels will be purged. For every action there is an equa and opposite reaction.

We, the electorate, are not done.

By the way ... I voted today -- did you?

The whole two-party system has outlived its usefulness (if it ever had any). The voters are beginning to see this, and hopefully interest in alternative parties and candidates will continue to grow.
