Just because I will turn 65 early next year, I am being FORCED to sign up for medicare...even though I am Not retiring, even though I am covered by the VA and even though I want Nothing to do with this program.

There is nothing valuable for me in medicare...I'll never use it...yet I am being forced to pay in for the sake of everyone else.

How are we supposed to take care of ourselves if we are forced to take care of everyone else.

Does anyone know how I can get out of this, without dying and without leaving the country and denouncing my citizenship.

She was required to pay into SS but not required to take the payments. I am not sure what she would have done about Medicare. Today you have to sign up for private insurance, Medicare, VA, pay a fine (tax), or show inability to pay and get set up in Medicaid.

Looks, so far, from what has been posted that I'll sign up for A at 0 cost and 0 value...my wife is not happy with that idea though.

Yea, I was a musician until age 30 and at 38 I taught couples dancing for a while...just cause it was different...the chicks...that's another installment to the story.

Should try some magnetic insoles for them there feet. My wife (DB 1) has perfect circulation due to wearing the insoles.

No longer. A dancing teacher told me I had natural rhythm during the 60s and I took girls high school dances and stuff.
During the 70s took dates to a disco in Tuscaloosa and one I met at a brother's wedding to a disco near her Marietta home in Atalanta.
That Georgia 'un a real nice memory cough cough nudge nudge know what I mean?
Danced it up in Birmingham clubs through the 80s until I met my ex.
Come to think of it, my last dance was with my ex.
Old dino be twinkle toes no longer.
Type 2 diabetes makes my feet hurt.
Poking? The Marines and the DOC trained me to fight but not to poke all that much.
If some one challenged me to a fight at this falling apart point in my life, old dino would just pull a gun and tell him to get out of my face. Who has something to prove at age 69?

I guess the idea of privatizing the VA is floating around now...but I bet the socialist won't let go.

I just saw an interview with Oliver Stone on the movie...he said he stuck with all the facts he could uncover. He interviewed Snowden personally too.

I could of had a private screening on line last night but I forgot and deleted the link...

I was not very impressed by the VA hospital in Madison. The doctors were great, but it seemed like the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing. My grandfather was going to have an operation on his foot. They took him off all his heart meds for the operation. The doctor who was going to do the foot operation was delayed. No one communicated that to the people responsible for heart meds. So he stayed off the meds for an entire day. That night he had a heart attack and died a few days later. He was in his mid 80s, and maybe he was going to have a heart attack anyway. But I really didn't like that they didn't communicate. Someone knew that operation was going to need to be rescheduled, but it did not lead to getting him back on his meds.

I think they should just give vets money to buy their own care rather than building a network of hospitals that aren't all that great.

Agreed...however, I'd take my money out of stocks and 401K's...there is a good chance their about to be looted...check out barney frank...I don't even keep money in the bank because of the possible "Bail IN's".

A check up once a year is all I've done for over 20 years...don't need anything they offer...I suppose if I ever did, I might just be tempted to let it run it's course.
Don't get ins at work, I'm per diem. Just go to the VA once a year.

Thanks and you have a great day too...gota go to work now.

Someone marked you down, your comment is not worthy of it but I must admit...I don't know what to say except, I can appreciate the honesty.

My wife, who's 2 years younger went through that...but everything with me is perfect so far. The VA doc keeps scratching his head when I leave his office...hope it stays that way. Doing things naturally seems to agree with me.

The ins co I talked to yesterday said that even thought I have the VA, I still have to pay for medicare for everyone else.

I was told that when you do try and sign up for MC that there is a 10% penalty per year increased Premiums every year going forward. As I signed up 8 years after age 65 they were going to charge me 180% of the regular Premium every year going forward. I had the correct paperwork to show that I had qualified coverage for those 8 years.
