“They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot? Sir, we are not weak if we make a proper use of those means which the God of nature hath placed in our power.”
― Patrick Henry

So close to what my thoughts were, and that it is profound that these quotes ring so so true all these years later. There MUST be some like minded politicians who possess a way with words, but are they afraid to speak these kind of thoughts? The only media station I have heard echo some of this sentiment, is Fox News and some radio talk hosts. So where, can the greater population expect to hear these inspiring words?

"I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death." - Thomas Paine

"I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer." Benjamin Franklin

How I wish that all of these quotes were posted by 16-year-olds who had been well taught and had caught the fire of individual rights.

"Government is like a fire. Useful in the fireplace, but if it gets out of it's place, it will consume everything you own"

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined... The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun."

Patrick Henry - Speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention (U.S. Constitution), June 5, 1788

After the revolutionary war, but before the constitution was set in stone to complete the revolution.
