I'm wondering if we can lessen the problem of shortening Galt's speech for ASIII by providing a printed full copy for sale or give away in theater lobbies or Shop the Gulch or include it in the deluxe edition of all three installments?

    I would wish that they do a long version with more of the speech that which will eventually make the big screen. I love DVDs that include a a director's cut, and then the movie screen version with the edits. I know there are always the deleted scenes (surely not all of them), but I have really enjoyed the long uncut versions of some moves.

      Me too. The problem is the time taken by the speech. It is more of a philosophical tract than a Shakesperean monolouge. Maybe the full version could be done as a documentary. I'd buy the DVD.

      lol. you are such a pill. YOU clearly do not appreciate collector's items, but many do. If a fan of Rand, it wouldn't surprise me a bit that people would consider getting the speech as an inclusion to a deluxe DVD copy perhaps inscribed on a grain of rice. we need a laser to turn your frown upside down, darren

        Wow. How many movies have you seen? Two?

        The time to issue things like "Special Editions" and "Collector's Items" is on the 50th anniversary of a movie (as was done with "Casablanca", "Gone With The Wind," "Singin' In The Rain", etc.). You don't issue "Special Editions" and "Collector's Items" during the darned premiere!! You're supposed to be trying to promote the movie to the general public, not to 74 hardcore Objectivists who would buy anything associated with the name Ayn Rand.

    The problem with Galt's speech is Galt's speech. Its sophistry might impress impress a teenager, but pretty much everybody who reads it picks up very quickly on its deep intellectual limitations. It's a sign of just how unreal and inapplicable Rand's ideas are in real life that the only way she could get them on paper is in a long Soviet-style über-rant.

    Many people here seem laser-focused on Galt's speech, but I'd argue the novel and the speech could be separated, because each say the same thing in a different form. Handouts would be a good idea, so people can voluntarily take them. I think it would be a cool idea for teaser trailers for AS3 to have parts of Galt's speech playing over scene's from recent news. (actually someone else might've said something similar in the Gulch before... though I can't remember who) Then a link to download the full version online or something.

    It is up to the writers to make that work. Based on "Francisco's Money Speech" in Part 2, I am not hopeful. That said, the impact of Atlas Shrugged as a movie is deeper and broader than just telling other people what they need to know.
