U.S. taxpayers could feel Apple's tax hit The company owes $14.5 billion in back taxes to Ireland, which may prompt it to employ a unique provision.

When the looter looting goes awry, it all goes back to us. Hmm..maybe a simple system is called for? Maybe none?

Indeed, so. Also, when you have bought enough US politicians abd bureaucrats, you just get to punt the problem to the taxpayer. They have no concern, either way, they win, we lose. Normal business world of today. Not profit and loss, but influence and owning the right politicians. They probably have a few million tied up in Hillary and her Foundation, just to be safe.

This is so Atlas Shrugged! It's hard to feel too much sympathy for Apple considering how their exec's support socialist government ideology all over the world. But when you lie down with Socialist dogs you get up with Socialist fleas.

That would be hilarious if millions and millions of iPhones suddenly went dark across Europe. Can you imagine the riots? European Kings have lost their heads for less.

And Ireland wants to stay in the one world government where their own tax policies and arrangements don't count...why the hell should the EU get any of it?...it's between the UN and the countries not the companies...we've got to slew that dragon.

I agree. I am transitioning all of my computers to LINUX. I never have any problems. Anybody know how to put UBUNTU on an IPad?

Apple should remotely disable all of their devices that are in countries that support this nonsense.

Next, in the name of fairness, they will meet to change the rules, back date the rules and take away trophies won by the best sport teams. :(

Apples tax in Ireland is really very simple. First, take .05% of gross profit, multiply by two, add 15, divide by 2, subtract the number you started with from the number you have now, and your answer is 7.5.
Well...that makes as much sense as Jabberwocky.

What's the Irish word for "BREXIT"?

Several lessons to be learned here: U.S. corporate tax needs to be lowered to discourage multinationals departing; EU acting like a totalitarian state, which makes Brexit look ever more sensible; cut the lobbying connections by which corporations snatch favoritism out of the political septic tank.

ever hear of the oil depletion allowance or so I am told.
if the tax on oil sold by an oil producer is say $1.00 for every gallon they take out of the ground they get an allowance of $1.00 a gallon because it is no long in the ground available in the USA. I do not know how accurate that is but when I heard of it I figured that is what happens here.

Yes, but I will bet there are enough contributions from Apple to the parties to make it an untenable position..

The way you solve the 12.1 tax deduction is make it non retro active or deductible if taxes have already been paid to another country and by the way any thing their employees of US Citizenship were paid in Ireland is still taxable in the USA.

Besides I got a deal on two refurbs and one of them is going to be my linux crossover. By 2020 we might have no need for MS at all. Whatever they dream up it will still be a wait to get enough bugs worked out to make it worth while so drop W10 in 3.5 years they have to do W12 or whatever NLT 2018. What kind of fool would be MS any sooner?

Ah, yes, it is good when you find one willing to learn. I am just disgusted with the whole way they have done ram down your throat thing. It was too desperate, and indicated they have something buried in it. I am thinking they will push the monthly fee thing to everyone. They plan to go to no more versions, which also tells me there is something more in the wind, so I want to see what they plan on doing. They say they will support it until 2020, so there is time.

You are not wrong. Apples competitor is on a non stop flurry of good deal offers for their 10th Anniversary fix of W10. One of my sponsored students was offered a top end W7 or a W10. took the W10 for this reason. There is enough information to protect yourself. Learning about it if you walk in with a new laptop is a class project. Eentually W7 will be too far behind the times like XP and because it came with 16GB RAM and 2 TB hard drive. We are also learning how co -install Linux. Light years ahead of me at 15. All I want to do is type a manscript and do a little research and letter writing. These kids want to conquer the world!

Oh to be young again.Youth is not wasted on ALL the young. There isn't a 'safe spot' inthe whole country and PC gender bending is foreign concept to be laughed at.

Well, I just thought this needed airing, just because it is so indicative of how the various looters involved, all start squabbling like barbarian chieftains, then in the end, it all gets jammed onto us. Won't cost Apple one dime. One reason I do not buy Apple products. Not that other manufacturers are much better, but Intel at least does a yearly release of all their finacials. They got hammered for 1 Billion by the EU for "price fixing". It was never clear to me that they really did, it was similar to a lot of rebate stuff being done in the late 90's early 2000's by lots of businesses. However, they have been moving certain productions to exclusive overseas production to insulate it from taxes. Bottom line: The government will never wean itself from our money, and the beast will make it 10 times worse, along with a huge "pay to play" environment she will bring in. Greedy B@tch that she is.

Easyi to follow makes perfect sense in a system with no sense and no reason to exist. So...

    a. Hooray for Steve Jobs he stuck it the Government again!!!! I hope he's listening from where ever up there is if it is. He deserves a Statue in front of the IRS with a Major Middle Finger Salute.

    b. At the end the conclusion was since the government was expecting this payment the US Taxpayer would have to foot the bill. False Premise or False Conclusion. The objective answer besides kicking all of DC out into a breadline in the desert somewhere is QUIT SPENDING. QUIT BORROWING QUOT ENABLING.

Ask your Congressional before you vote what is his/her answer to the 14.1 billion dollar shortfall?

Ask Hillary... hell we know that answer. Her excuse to not tax cut and enable the middle class.

Ask Trump. Ha HA See the answer in capital letters.

If the USA isn't competitive why should business not flee the country. There's no point in doing business in a country which removes all incentives.

USA IS the Venezuela of North America and Chaveta is just OBama by another name.
