White House requests comments on life in 2030... hehe...

This was in response to their request that we tell them what we think life will be like in 2030 due to the new EPA carbon regulations. Below is my response:

The year is 2030. The American economy has suffered under increasingly crippling government regulations for over a century, and has finally reached a breaking point.

The People's Republic of California declared bankruptcy last year, with repercussions across the entire nation as the Federal Government has foolishly bailed out numerous private and public pensions, and created new social welfare programs that brought the number of Americans receiving direct government assistance to 2 out of 3.

Mexico, having gone through a revolution four years ago, is flourishing in some states near the Texas border, with direct private investment from individual Texans, where a number of them are choosing to now live due to the crippling Federal regulations.

The Governor of Texas, seeking to prevent the loss of some of the most successful Texan citizens to Mexican states, signs a unanimously passed law that nullifies all Federal laws and regulations that are not expressly authorized by the US Constitution.

The President of the United States, believing this to be an illegal move by the state of Texas, akin to secession, and orders the Army to the New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana borders with Texas. Immediately after the announcement, the Governors of those states, displeased with the state of the Union, notify the President that they do not approve of the use of the military against a sovereign state.

And so, the country stands on the brink of a near civil war, what happens next will determine if we live in a Fascist-style tyranny where private individuals own businesses and Government regulates them by telling them who they must hire, how much they can charge, where they can sell them, and other laws. OR, if we will return to the principles of the founding of this nation envisioned by the brave men and women who sacrificed all they had in the comfort of Europe in order to eek out a free existence in the wilderness called America.

The only thing that you forgot was that the name of that president was Jenna Bush (or maybe Chelsea Clinton, really doesn't matter).

barwick11 It makes me sad to say it, but we do have some military people who would follow illegal orders. In their minds (I believe) there is no question beyond it being their responsibility to "follow orders."

“The word "We" is as lime poured over men, which sets and hardens to stone, and crushes all beneath it, and that which is white and that which is black are lost equally in the grey of it. It is the word by which the depraved steal the virtue of the good, by which the weak steal the might of the strong, by which the fools steal the wisdom of the sages.

What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

But I am done with this creed of corruption.

I am done with the monster of "We," the word of serfdom, of plunder, of misery, falsehood and shame.

And now I see the face of god, and I raise this god over the earth, this god whom men have sought since men came into being, this god who will grant them joy and peace and pride.

    This god, this one word:

    "I.”
    ― Ayn Rand, Anthem

In 2030 if thing continue the way they are. We will all be slaves to the collective. Shareing in misery, gaining no joy, losing all hope.
In 2030 if things continue the way they are, Our thoughts will not be ours, we will be controled by others forced to do the will of the collective.
In 2030 if things continue as they are, creativity will be snuffed, excellence will be condemned, and all will be forced in to equal shares of poverty save those elists who live and enjoy the freedom they have drained from the people as a vampire drains the blood of his victim until the victim shrinks in death drained of his life-force, with no will to fight for his own life only glad his suffering is over.

"Between midnight and dawn, when sleep will not come, and all the old wounds begin to ache, I often have a nightmare vision of a future world in which there are billions of people, all numbered and registered, with not a gleam of genius anywhere, not an original mind, a rich personality, on the whole packed globe."

I think that Europe will beat the united States to be first to the finish line in the race to see which bureau self-destructs and leaves behind the wasteland that can be recolonised by inhabitants of Atlantis.

Negative interest rates chasing money out of Europe.

You know, it's interesting you mentioned that. When I read that, I thought "why would I bother saving in European banks if I lived there, I would just put my money somewhere else".

the way manufacture is going which is I believe slowing down world wide nobody will ultimately have any employment or will want to work. I can only imagine that the "government" will keep the factories open that produce weapons to keep the population in check and those who chose to work in those factories will only be supporting their own demise. having read DIM I am convinced that LP is correct about everything stopping except the time frame he is at 2 generations and I am less than that. the "leadership" (?) of the country is in turmoil and they do not have the slightest idea as to how to "start" the correction. of course the first step would be to read AS and follow that up with capitalism, etc. by none other than AR but I did not have to tell you that. that said it is nothing more than a pipe dream on my part them reading AR. but rest assured the government is well on it way to destroying the usa. the rest of the world is in the 3rd or 4th category and they will not care except the muslim world there they will cheer. the white house occupants only ask dumb questions because they are DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You forgot to mention that a federal judge ordered the government to begin releasing political prisoners from the FEMA camps due to over-crowding.

    Hello barwick11,
A metaphorical "night of the long knives" has already begun in the form of the IRS scandal and many other ways. The opposition is being denied free speech in many venues, intimidated, dismissed and shouted down with accusations of racism, bigotry, misogyny, indifference to the plight of the poor etc. When it becomes literal some will resist. When the Kristallnacht occurs it will be too late to stop the fascists without civil war.
We must be diligent to preempt this scenario or history shall surely repeat.
    Respectfully,
    O.A.

Problem for the fascist liberals is, the military (as it *currently* exists) is mostly conservative. And no commander is going to obey that order to attack another American.

Now... Police and Federal agents on the other hand, are not overwhelmingly conservatives. I don't know what the mix is, but it's definitely not what the military is. Police & Federal agents would be more than willing to obey those orders.

What evidence do you have that the military is "mostly conservative?"

Granted, I left the army in 1990, so I don't have any recent first hand knowledge, but some class mates of mine who are Col's/Gen's have been forced out if they were more conservative and those who are more progressive remain. This has been going on for a few years. That's the senior officer ranks. At the enlisted level, they have often been more collectivist. Just look at what how they live - told what to do most of the day, live in somebody else's housing, get subsistence for their food, and get special pricing for their goods at the PX.

Don't get me wrong, I have great respect for the men and women of our armed forces. They do a thankless but necessary job. But please don't confuse that for conservative philosophy.

I heard a statistic somewhere that something like 70% of the Army voted conservative.

Senior officers they tend to be more liberal than the Army average though I understand. It helps to be willing to compromise with the big government system and not speak up, in order to get promoted.
