If it were possible to put together a discussion group of great people, past and present, who would you choose? We know who the #1 choice would be for most of us. Who else, and why? Limit it to your top ten.

    If you had asked in catagories it would have been easy. Carlin and Dylan for entertainment with Ira Blue as the host as an example but don't add to my list it's an example. This is going to be another great post to follow.

        Leave some for the others. I'm a PolySci and History major. I kind of sneaked in Carlin and Dylan.for balance. You and AJ presented John Wayne and Clint Eastwood I'd add Mark Wahlberg. and Harrison Ford. But i ran out of space.

            So tell the story....I only know him as what Tom Cruise could have been if he had been seriously interested in acting.

              We published Graphic biographies of rock stars & rock groups.We published them unauthorized just like hardcover books, because we wanted to tell the truth. Mark joined his brother in New Kids On The Block claiming that we stole their ability to exclusively market their product. The Federal Judge said that just because we used what is commonly referred to a comic book form we had as much right to publish a book about celebrities as anyone. The only thing we were restricted from doing was using their logo. Cost us $35K which was a big number for us back then.

                  Sure we did Queen. I'm a big Freddie fan. Look for Revolutionary Comics. I think you'll find some on the internet. The most valuable is the first edition of the first book, Guns N Roses. The company was founded by my son, who has since died. There is a bio. movie about him, "Unauthorized And Proud Of It." and a Graphic Bio coming out late fall.

                      There are some others you may be interested in. If you are a Beatles fan there is an 8 part series that not only tells their story, but puts it in historical perspective. Then a 7 part series on Elvis. But the one you' may get a kick out of is a pure satire, based on Atlas called "Elvis Shrugged." All the characters are substituted by show biz icons.

                            Time.... always wins....probably those of us who remember everything from Mad Magazine and Cartoons on down to R.Crumb and of course Revolutionary Comics.

                              You are right. Many artists, editors and writers got their start or achieved their reputations from us and are still out there working. They have requested my presence at various comic cons and panel discussions which I do at times via Skype. A former editor and writer contacted me and told me about adult coloring books. Not porno, but coloring books that adults can do and frame etc. So, we are selecting art from our Rock N Roll books and turning them into coloring books. They should be out around Thanksgiving.

          I'm an old retired guy. I can devote as much or as little time to a project as I choose. Although I find myself so occupied in retirement that I actually have to give myself a day off. Thanks for the invite. However if I showed up on your doorstep you might call the police.

            Hi Herb just bear in mind its midwinter here so more likely i would give you soup than soap if thats what you mean?
            As i said i appreciate your comments on so many topics and you clearly started a great thread here.
            I have just re-read A B Facey's A Fortunate Life' what a great ol fella he was, writing that 60 years after he returned from war. A Producer for sure.

              I appreciate the appreciation. I'm curious, where is here? Don't answer if you don't wish to. But as an aside, I communicate with people world-wide outside the http://Gulch.It started with a dear friend who is Japanese who is an avid KISS fan. I once had a business relationship with Gene Simmons and hooked her up to meet him when KISS toured Japan. Since then I have become acquainted with fans and friends of fans all over the place, so I like adding locations to my pantheon.

                Ah mr 7734 i havent done that calculator trick for years.
                Sorry i am off the radar, but there is snow lying outside. I went on strike 25 april 2006 and define that as choosing to work only on the minimum tax rate at a government job that Galt would say should not exist. I am a Producer in my life but not in my taxpaying work and my bosses have no values to trade with me. And being in this Gulch is a great trade.
                I will keep reading and hope you keep posting.

                  As long as my health allows, I'll probably be unable to resist putting my 2 cents in. I certainly understand your wanting to stay gridless. As to the 7734, my mom told me that the MD predicted that I'd be a July 4th baby. Sure enough, she went into labor 7-4-34. I was a breech birth. This was before they did Ceasarians very much and the poor woman was in and out of labor for 3 days. Out I popped on 7-7-34. When telling me this tale, she looked at me sort of wistfully and said, "You always were a stubborn kid."

    I would choose: Homer, Dante, Shakespeare, Michelangelo and Verdi ... and then Aristoteles and Rand to help me understand their discussions.

    I am a fan of real science, learning more all the time.

    Carl Popper - for writing down the philosophy of falsification and trying to keep science from becoming the garbage it is.
    Einstein - for practicing falsification and giving Carl Popper an example.

      Doesn't anyone identify anything new. Explain the use of falsification and again I had to do your work for you it's Karl with a K and he's a follower of mysticism Plato, Kant etc. I'd say the falsification is introducing a subjectivist without identifying one as such especially in a site full of objectivists. no chance of geting away with it.

      Ah hell you did that on purpose to see if anyone would notice right?.

        Quite a nasty reply for a misspelling. However, falsification is a very important concept. I don't quite understand the sentence "Explain falsification..." If I am incorrect about something, I am happy to be corrected, but I don't understand what you are trying to say. Do my work for me? What?

        Someone can have strange beliefs and still get something right. In this case, a very important concept in science and just skeptical thinking which is very important in science.

            I have no idea what you are talking about. I did not ask you to explain anything. I did not understand one sentence because it made no sense. I'm happy to explain anything, I just did not know what you were requesting. I have my thoughts together. Reason is my highest ideal. I have worked years on it. Maybe you should do the same.

            Looking up through the chain, I might have mistakenly replied to a comment rather than the post. Maybe that is the source of the misunderstanding. It is hard to tell because the original comments are not showing.

            I'm not sure what your problem is with me. Do you have me confused with someone else? Are you just a troll?

            I am only here for rational discussion. I am not interested in anything else.
