Brian, have you contacted ORNL yet? Los Alamos? Livermore? as you probably know, there are incredibly complicated calculations which need this kind of power being done at these places. this is a national security need;; yes. -- j
OK, Dr. Jim;; you worked at Argonne & can say why to NOT work with the govt, I'm sure! I worked at y12 and know why TO, sir. I contend that the nuclear weapons business still forms part of our national deterrence -- diminishing, yes. we may be seeing the same glass half full. -- j
I worked at Savannah River, too, just before the government nationalized that part of the nuclear weapons business. I didn't want to work for the government at the time, but couldn't find anything else. I hadn't read AS yet, but I could see myself turning into a Floyd Ferris. Aaaaggghh! I am so glad I left.
I retired early (59) because I was fed up with the politicization afforded by DOE, and I have never felt better! now, my inventions contribute to my wife's jewelry's sparkle and my friends' dump truck's strength. I read AS (first time), when I was 19 & haven't stopped loving it since!!! -- j
ok;; figured it out. the unabridged version narrated by Christopher Hurt runs 55::24, so that must be it. he sounds better than Scott Brick, whose version runs 63::0. think that I'll buy your version. -- j
I just read a 1-star review of AS, citing the narrator as Scott Brick, who on wikipedia is cited as having a reading style "hammier than a pig farm." would this be our narrator? -- j
