Here at ground zero in Albuquerque I can say that the reports are not exaggerations; there are a lot of grasshoppers. I'm hoping my tomato and chile pepper plants survive. So far they seem to be in pretty good shape. As the article said, this too shall pass.

The follow up video was positive. Apparently there is an abundance of honey bees... for years we have heard they were in trouble and crops were in need...

a couple of years ago I was doing the Milwaukee to Chicago and back drive every day. Then the Brood 13 locusts popped out of the ground. First the damn things are about as big as a sparrow. Then there were the clouds of them pretty much around anywhere there was good tree cover. Usually you would not see them anymore north of Lake-Cook Rd. So I thought I was out of the mess and cracked my window one afternoon while cruising north at about 90 mph. When I found the last one it got partially split on the edge of the drivers side window and that was not enough to kill it. After a long minute or two of buzzing in my ear it fell into the back seat somewhere..
