Greetings Brothers and Sisters of Reason,

While we are celebrating winning the First American Revolution, let’s not forget to remind ourselves and those around us of the ways in which our Freedoms are under assault by elements of our own government who certainly seek to intimidate us, and lull us, into a passive state - in myriad ways in so many areas of our daily lives.

Let’s not die fighting foreign enemies of Liberty and then fall prey to those in our Government, with their friends and apologists, who would rule us in the same manner if we let them.

Live free or die (Gotta love New Hampshire )

Same as Oregon. Both states should have a slogan, Welcome, But Bring Your Own Money. When all you want out of life is to get a minimal education, work a minimal job, smoke a few joints after work, watch a few sitcoms, go to bed and do it all over the next day, all you need is a safety net for when there's a layoff.

Contractors have fits because nobody wants to come to work in the winter because it's too cold, in the spring because it's fishing season, in the summer because it's too hot, and in the fall because it's hunting season.

Tony Robbins long ago gave up giving his Unleash the Power Within motivational seminars in Portland because he just couldn't find enough people interested in seeking any higher level of achievement. And there you are.

Independence Day is a, regretfully, a sham. Now, the day after, the first thing on the news is for Comey to give Hillary a pass. It makes Timothy Daughtry’s article (http://townhall.com/columnists/timoth...) seem like a crystal ball.

Now that a District court ruled (June 23, 2016) you have no right to privacy using the internet, we all should not only use encryption but offshore servers and the Tor browser.

Our worst enemy is our own government and the statists inside our country who support it.

Last night in Las Vegas there was a huge display of fireworks- in the barrio !! not at the casinos. It was the biggest display of individual fireworks since I moved here years ago.

I couldnt help but think it was a display of love for the whole idea of the USA, a stand against terrorism, and happiness that we are done with Obama. I would hope it was a heartfelt display against Hillary, but I really dont know that.

Funny that the biggest displays were in the latino sections of town. They spend a lot on the fireworks, as they were the really good (illegal) ones. Interesting that there were so many of them that the cops didnt even try to enforce the ridiculous laws against them.

Love the New Hampshire motto. Very true on the government trying to obfuscate us. The Democratic Black Caucus is trying to upend our 2nd Amendment as we speak in the sake of blaming guns and not the people who perpetrated the crime. Then they blame whites for black on black crimes. Funny how the police responding to crime get blamed for the high incarceration of blacks, but most of the crime happens in black neighborhoods, so they get called racist for responding and doing their jobs. Also, why is it when some whacko with a gun causes the majority of gun owners, who have in no way committed anything illegal, have their rights infringed? The political elite need to get their head out of the sand and other dark places and address the problems and not impinge our rights to protect a few.

    Freedom Day?
Do you want fries with that?

Seriously I always get depressed on this day over just how unfree we are now and how far we have departed from what this country was supposed to be about.

Thanks. I appreciate your appreciation of my optimism. I pride myself on it (though not the blind kind). What was it Rand said about "Benevolent Sense of Life"?? :-)

I agree. I don't know if the US Constitution will be a blip in history followed by centuries of tyranny. I'm not focused on that path. I'm focused on the areas liberty has increased and how to undo the losses in other areas in my life that occupies an eye-blink of history. I agree with every word of the OP. Live free or die.

                No.
Cool acid response. Glad I'm wrong.
Whoa, I think I suddenly recall you writing somewhere that you liked Johnson.
                Johnson ain't crooked.
I'd vote for him should the day come that it looked like he could stop Shillary.

I was for Clinton before I realized Johnson had a chance. I'm hoping this may be the perfect storm where someone focused on limiting gov't could be elected. It's still a longshot. It would take one or more unlikely developments, but it could happen. Johnson admits he cannot limit gov't alone with the power of the presidency, but he would use the presidency to make it an issue. He at least claims he wouldn't keep expanding the power of the presidency.

Crap, I was part way right then.
Clinton is in no way about limiting government.
Not to mention all those "gates" in the wake of that crooked Teflon titwillow.
As for her illegal and dangerous email abuse, she should be tried for treason.
