Independence Day in the Gulch

Watching the news today, it's easy to find reason for despair. Do not lose hope. The ideas our country was founded upon are the strongest in the history of mankind. And, our Republic is still worth fighting for.

Tomorrow, we will take a moment to remember who we are, where we've come from and how we got here. We are proud to be Americans and we will wave our flags high.

"If you ask me to name the proudest distinction of Americans, I would choose–because it contains all the others–the fact that they were the people who created the phrase ‘to make money.’ No other language or nation had ever used these words before; men had always thought of wealth as a static quantity–to be seized, begged, inherited, shared, looted or obtained as a favor. Americans were the first to understand that wealth has to be created. The words ‘to make money’ hold the essence of human morality." - Francisco d'Anconia

From all of us at Atlas Shrugged, have a happy and healthy 4th of July.

John Aglialoro
Producer, Atlas Shrugged

To you, John, not only do we wish a wonderful Independence Day 2013 and express our extreme gratitude for your spirit, your wonderful gift to us, and your dedication to getting Atlas Shrugged, Parts I, II, and III actually made but also, despite the desperate future that our government so strongly is trying to force us towards, your strength that, should that collapse come about, will help us through to returning to the greatness that America has created and will create again.

John, I am so grateful for your hard work and vision in producing Atlas Shrugged. With the daily attacks on our individual freedoms, having AS made into a movie will help educate more individuals to inspire them to investigate reading Ayn Rand, but also to encourage them to become stronger advocates for Freedom. Thank you for all that you do.

Best of luck with AS 3 - we are looking forward to it. Yes, on this Independence Day we are particularly sober to the fact that individual liberty is all but lost in this once great nation. We do not have honorable opponents, and they fully plan to enslave us. Maybe AS will make a difference.

My mind has taught me so many things as I read "Atlas Shrugged" and taking that along with things my mind(spirit) has taught me earlier I know that all of the old knowledge accumulated in my emotions, will, and intellect (which by the way has been in control of my body. That is why my life has been such a mess.), must go to the cross and die in order for the mind of Christ to live (exist). Likewise, I believe that the condition of America is the reflection of the unrepentant soul of t America and it is in the processing of that long walk to the cross. Perhaps the other nations are those who are stripping us naked for everyone to see, whipping us with their cat of nine tails, revealing our weakness as we are forced to carry our cross, and nailing the works of our soul to the cross so we can not escape. America is suffering the last breath of life before the end-----but---Life will come and the Mind which John Galt spoke of (the Mind of Christ) will establish an existence of morality, purpose, reason.

I am looking for that last breath with anticipation because though the process of death is difficult, the hope of our future is radiant.

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.

This book is an awesome and amazing book and revealed a religious spirit dwelling within me that was part of that data in the soul that had to die in order to see truth.

    Hope this does not offend.

      "Hope this does not offend."

      Not with me!

I believe that Ayn Rand's philosophy can be a positive influence for everyone, without a dogmatic adherence to every point and aspect. Assimilation into one's personal beliefs is a good step towards personal freedom.

All. or nothing, is counterproductive...and the wrong approach.

Ramblings of a lunatic, and feel free to ignore me!

No offense taken, Cherri, like everyone alse, you are entitled to express your views. But if Ms. Rand has read your post from the afterlife that you seem to anticipate, she's spinning in her grave. Afterlife? Next World? Mind of Christ = Mind of John Galt? Collective guilt? Not the way I read Ayn Rand.

No, I am not talking about an afterlife or next world. I am talking about a new beginning in this world during my lifetime that can happen when we are no longer fighting all the symptoms that can not be defeated until the disease is put to death. America is infected with a deadly disease. Death must come to put to death the disease that America is infected with and release the death sentence so she can live.

I have reread this awesome book and can not get out of Chapter 7. Amazing what you hear when you dare to think.

I think Any Rand completely understood what I am saying and brilliantly created a word picture to help others understand.
I would like to quote from AS, "I am speaking to those who desire to live and to recapture the honor of their soul. Now that you know the truth about your world, stop supporting you own destroyers."

If I could afford it, I would give every member of congress a copy of Atlas Shrugged, pointing out how they are following the exact path detailed by Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged. Wake up and smell the coming disaster, congress - both liberals and conservatives are on a path to destroy this nation domestically and internationally. It;s not too late to change your destructive path, but unless you act soon and in the interest of the people of the USA, you are enacting the destruction of our way of life, our nation and our people!

Good thought, but might be a waste of money.

When you consider that the Affordable Care Act was about the same length as Atlas shrugged, and our politicians couldn't find the time to read it before making it the law, what are the chances that they would read AS?

Besides...my guess is that half of them can't read without using their index finger to follow the words. There is no other explanation for the stupidity that comes out of those two Chambers!

You're too good to your "Producers", John. Thank you for the spirited remarks and most especially for the view of Ayn Rand's home. Happy -- Independence -- Day.

Not many people know this, but John was a member of our armed forces and dutifully served his country ... ultimately receiving an honorable discharge. I thought this bit of information would help people understand the depth of John's passion and love for America.

I love what you have done to bring Atlas Shrugged to the public. The movies, I and II are great. Hoping for even more when III comes out.

I watched my parents save money, we had to do chores we did not get an allowance, I babysat at 12 to earn money for special occasions, but most of it went into savings. It is so discouraging to see people in charge be so greedy, dishonest and out right steal from anyone. I loved Ian rands philosophy . I read all her books in college and based my research paper for politcal sci class. I have said this so much I wish I could find a place without this group running this country. If I could dig up the founding fathers I would. This country is not run by us. We lost total control after Reagan and maybe as far back as FDR. Now votes go into a computer which is owned by supporters of the group in charge. And before this farce the famous electoral college. This slays me. The vote in our state came down to the mayor who was one of the electors she was for Hillary so her choose was it. How then does my vote count. If you have a map to the gulch I would love to move there.

I spent 4 hours last sunday trying to understand the progressive philosophy, all I came up with was fascism. After that I noticed AS part 2 was on netflix, so I watched it. It offered such a breath of relief I decided to participate in this web sight; which is something I've never done before. I owe my thanks to you. I took my kids to AS part 1 in the theatre; we'll be sure to see 3 as soon as it comes out. The create wealth quote is genius, it can't be accomplished without freedom first, Happy 4th.
    Sincerely, Thank You.

This has been a schizophrenic holiday for me. I am happy to have made it to age 59. On the other hand, I hate what is happening to my poor country thanks to the fools in Washington and the nitwits who elected them. Yes, there are a handful of stand-up politicians in DC such as Trey Gowdy (in my opinion), but they are few and far between. Let us hope that the next July 4th brings an awakening of the People to demand integrity from those in positions of trust just as the people of Egypt have done.

The thought of independence must continue to be guiding light for people of vision. Your efforts with Atlas Shrugged will keep the fire alive. When you complete Part III, keep the dream of independence alive by creating a sequel to Atlas Shrugged, the creation of a new society based on the principles of personal responsibility and the value of the individual...

Just finished watching my DVD's of AS 1 and 2 for the third time. I am really looking forward to AS 3.
The idea that wealth can be created rather than simply moved around is central to the viability of capitalism. Ayn Rand understood this as did our founding fathers. Socialism and all other forms of collectivism are not only failures of imagination and vision they are well established paths to power for the despot. Why are there so many scoundrels in government? Unfortunately the answer is simple government provides the perfect home for the unprincipled.
