I am not sure but know that we are post constitutional and it is going to get worse before it gets better, no matter who wins.

A somewhat tongue in cheek remark but nevertheless one voiced repeatedly in the expat communities. I suppose we're the present day version of the run to Canada bunch of the sixties in one respect...given the differences. Not a bad choice and most of us about 80% had military service.

It very much depends on what and who you include in the word 'America'. Is it the citizenry as a whole, urban vs. rural citizenry, voting vs. non-voting population, elected officials, the hidden bureaucratic government, etc., etc.? There are very disquieting similarities to both 1984 and Atlas Shrugged. Statist Collectivism/Socialism has made significant gains I didn't expect to see in my life time. But on the other hand, I see an awakening in the population towards freedom and frustration with gov't, though the philosophical underpinnings are still pretty weak.
