New Mexico? And people get on me for Florida being too hot. Maybe if it were up high enough in the mountains?

If it gets that bad, I will have long since gone to a real physical Gulch even if I have to start it from scratch myself and let the rest of you happily follow.

Live or die when it hits those who teach this crap right in the face they will get smart, but it will be to late. Then the excuses begin again, but I am in accord with you.

Commie Core is an amalgam of the worst of John Dewey's Progressive Education, Joseph Goebbels' Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. It's simply the logical descendant of The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America as described by Charlotte Iserbyt.

Yes, I'm of that generation. I never saw what was wrong with it. Always had enough math from high school to build on for college electronics.

By this definition of stupidity, those who blank out are stupid. This ought to be worth multiple points for blarman.

But stupid is excusable. Ignorant is worse. And worse yet? Bias.

Life is easy if you are stupid. You don't miss what you don't know.

On behalf of the speech police, I'd like to correct you regarding the use of "stupid". the correct term would be "intellectually challenged". :-)

There's a difference between stupid, ignorant, and naïve. Life is easy if you're naïve, but very hard if you're ignorant or stupid.

"Stupid is as stupid does." -- Forrest Gump

Ignorance is not knowing the path to take.

Stupidity is knowing the path and intentionally avoiding it.

    1a : slow of mind : obtuse
b : given to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner
c : lacking intelligence or reason : brutish
    2: dulled in feeling or sensation : torpid lt;still stupid from the sedative ;gt;
    3: marked by or resulting from unreasoned thinking or acting : senseless; lt;a stupid decision; gt;

    in•tel•li•gent
    adjective \in-ˈte-lə-jənt\
: having or showing the ability to easily learn or understand things or to deal with new or difficult situations

    wis•dom
    noun \ˈwiz-dəm\
: knowledge that is gained by having many experiences in life
: the natural ability to understand things that most other people cannot understand
: knowledge of what is proper or reasonable : good sense or judgment

I have always been taught that Wisdom is the proper application of knowledge.
Being stupid, unreasonable, unable to accepts facts and modify your opinion based on proven facts makes one stupid.
Stupid people follow the crowd blindly, like lemmings off a cliff. Stupid people act without knowing or thinking. Stupid people think that "we have to DO something" when faced with a problem but do not know at all what to do.

Rarely does a stupid person realize that, sometimes, "doing nothing" IS doing something.

Stupid people do not correlated that intentionally not taking action is a form of action. many times we have to let people fail in order for them to learn.

If you take away the possibility of failure, then people and society stagnate.

Failure is a way of learning. The real key is to not fall into the trap of being not only stupid but insane. Insanity has been defined as doing the same thing over and over, the same way and expecting a different result.

In our society, Politicians are stupid, the public is stupid for buying into the snake oil being sold by politicians simply because they are too lazy to educate themselves in this age of unfettered access to information.

If we want to evade being stupid LOOK at history, see what has been done over and over, and what has failed and what has succeeded.

I am often reminded of Demming, "father" of quality control. I read someplace he was asked if experience was important. His answer: "Not if you're doing it wrong."
I encourage people to stop being stupid. Start reasoning, and looking at facts, not opinions.

If you see phrases like "I think", "I believe" you are dealing with opinion not fact. If some states the "Fact is...", ask them where they got this fact, call them out on it. You will most likely find they made it up on the spot.

    The Scientific Method:
This entails research, work and effort to disseminate information. Within the scientific method, one key factor is if the PROOF of facts based on the evidence of the experiments does not support your opinion, you must think again, rinse-repeat until your hypothesis is proven and then becomes fact.

The scientific method is a search for TRUTH, not opinion.
When REAL evidence is provided which contradicts our opinion or belief then we must as a reasonable person not become stupid and maintain our belief, but modify our belief to match the indisputable facts.
