In response to this article, I say that there are fundamental misunderstandings about both Ayn Rand and Christianity. Defining world views by their differences, however, leads to stalemate. As Americans, we need to focus on the principles that unite us and act on them. How do you respond? (See http://atl.as)

I would respond by having nothing to do with Howard Bess as he is trying really hard to set up a nice world where more productive and capable folks can be 'his' slave. This kind of guy loves it when principled people compromise with him, because then evil wins. As for me, I wont compromise with a killer, so why would I want to compromise with this louse?

This is just more post modern, emergent church liberal christian rubbish.
The key phase for me "and in the teachings of Jesus and other great religious leaders. " To that I ask what other religious leaders? Jesus only get cursorily mentioned because it is not about Jesus dying for our sin but shoehorning Jesus into one's ideological agenda. I created a new acronym for them JINO or PJONO (Preaching) Jesus in Name Only. .

    Attributed (incorrectly) to Hermann Goering
"When I hear the word 'culture'
    I reach for my revolver."

After many lectures at school 'some' years ago,
    and from life experience,
I feel like that when I hear the words 'common good'

so many buzz phrases in the article. corporations without soul, can capitalism be a moral system, living wage, conscious economics.
along with Mark's point about fundamental misunderstanding about Rand, I would add: it seems interesting that the discussion in the article needs to intertwine faith with which economic system is best. I guess one could say Rand would be clear that capitalism is the only moral economic syste. But in order for the discussion to progress, one would have to agree on how that morality is defined. Here it assumed based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian, you should not believe capitalism is a just and moral system. At what point does the reason cease to be as important as an overall belief? T he author does not define that. It becomes more of a guilting argument. "You should," "we must."

Let's take today's rally. Glenn Beck comes on the stage surrounded by religious leaders. When people shout "USA, USA" he admonishes them, telling them this present America might ot be worth fighting for. and then, he poses verbiage that suggests a theocracy. sure, he throws in phrases that appeal to smaller govt, less intrusive minded individuals, however, he concentrates on God. The US was founded on natural rights. Period. Turning a country into a theocracy will result in disaster. the police state will just be different. kinda like Animal farm.
