What Is Easter?

There's a lot I don't get about religion. However, one thing that I don't get the most is the popular manifestation of Easter. Supposedly, It commemorates when God in the form of a man was asphyxiated by being nailed to a cross and left to hang on the upright cross until death overcame him. A particularly hideous way to die. So in order to commemorate this grisly act, we are inundated with cute bunnies laying candy coated chocolate eggs and having our kids pictures taken at the malls with 6 foot tall rabbits who if they were real would scare the pants of kids more than the myriad of Santas during Christmas. Can anyone explain this phenomenon to me?

The rejection of reason is not restricted to believing what others say in blind acceptance. Some add fantasies of their own. There are endless possibilities when anything goes.

Easter is Halloween with only three ghosts and demands that you take it literally.

I had that chili dog yesterday for lunch. Seriously though, I usually don't think about origins of stuff. Now when it comes to stuff, I take things apart and figure out how and why they work, then put them back together. By the way, I wasn't joking, I actually went to A&W yesterday for lunch and had a coney with chili and cheese.

I liked Carson actually. He appears to really think things through before he speaks, but he is way too quiet and unassuming to ever win in this election circus. I dont love Trump actually. I intensely dislike Hillary and dont want her as our president. She is an admitted socialist, and simply tells us whatever she needs to get votes, so she can pander once electd to the wall street people who paid for her. Unless someone else is elected, we will get Hillary. She would be the worst possible candidate of all of them (given that Sanders is out of the running THIS time). Trump is the only one with a snowball's chance in hell of beating her, and he would not be nearly as bad as her by a long shot

FFRF has one, but it is not (n my opinion) worded well. Email me and I will send you my revision of the original when I get back to the US. I hope you have patience, I won't be back for a month. rmorris@richardmorris.com

they used to attack me when I ran the kilowatt sound
system out of the house and gave away full-size
butterfingers on halloween night. . I would hide in the
bushes and ask, via wireless mic, if they would like
the chocolate fingers of the previous trick-or-treaters. -- j

You love Trump a self promoting ,egotistical ,shallow thinking leftist inheritor who has used govt for his own benifit .An Authoritarian who will further erode all our rights and will likely murder many innocents. Carson actually put his money where his mouth was by promoting education and providing scholarships. His belief in the bible maybe a fault but so is " might makes right" Trump mantra is to promote fear and greed.
Carson came from the ghetto and became a brain surgeon I think he offered a great example how to pull oneself up by the bootstraps.

I believe that I was told that Sam was originally an evangelical preacher. I wouldn't doubt it. It takes one to know one.

Thinking, like anything that requires effort also requires practice. But that's certainly a good point. Faith doesn't require much effort.

At first I was disappointed as to any real information as at the beginning most posts thought the subject was satirical. But now it's just the opposite. I'm getting information overload.
    Thanks, Jan.

    Faith.
I really dislike that word. Rand quotes it as "blind acceptance." It always puzzled me how people can give up reason and just accept something just because someone said so.

    Sweet tooth?
    Crème eggs. MMMMM.
It is forbidden to me but I'll probably sneak one anyhow. I often think of myself lying on my deathbed and saying, Man, I wish I had that chili dog, or crème egg.
