Introduced to Ayn Rand's works over 30 years ago. Was told I can either read as a story or as a philosophy on life. I chose the latter. Easy to read, tough philosophy to follow.

What makes the philosophy hard to follow? I ask this because I find it very simple to follow. My life change abruptly upon reading Rand's works. I began reading Atlas Shrugged as a story, not knowing how philosophical it was. Boy, was I surprised. Nothing has ever changed my life so quickly.

I love myself, my work, my accomplishments, and my pride. If others crumble around me, it is not of my concern, but of their own. We must take full responsibility for both the positive and the negative consequences of our choices. What can possibly be so hard about loving yourself and wanting to do your best?

Good question. What you say makes complete and total sense to me. (Have you noticed how much people love drama and chaos in their lives? Most of this drama and chaos is caused by their own irresponsible decisions...being responsible and loving yourself is peaceful and the opposite of what they thrive on. Not to mention the added anger factor..... Hmmm)

You seem to be one of the main posters to this site. Question, as I am new to this forum, what is the purpose of this particular site?

"Official Atlas Shrugged Movie "Collective." Galt's Gulch is a community of like-minded individuals who come together regularly to share interesting content and ideas with each other and debate politics, economics, philosophy and more. If you've read Ayn Rand and have been influenced by Atlas Shrugged, this is the site you've been waiting for."
Do you feel this purpose is not being met in some way? looking forward to your posts and comments.

I had no expectations, just uncertainty of the purpose. I have read several postings and am gleaning a better idea of the purpose of the site.

Thank you for your input. I already enjoy an array of genres of music, but am always on the look out. Indi music has taken such a huge leap in the past few years, it's difficult to keep up with all the musical goodies that are continually coming out worldwide.

My most recent musical purchase (amongst others) was "The Bravest Man in the Universe" by Bobby Womack. No, I do not live in the United States. I have not seen the movie Atlas Shrugged. It has not been advertised "as coming to a theatre near you soon" here. I plan on purchasing the movies after #3 is finished and buying it as a set. What I have done is taken out all of my books written by Ayn Rand and started to reread them (started with "Anthem" and now planning on moving onto "We The Living"). Have you read them?

Do you have Atlas Shrugged in your book collection? I hope you will read it soon. It would give you tremendous insite into the discussions you will observe here and make your participation very enjoyable, hopefully. Are you still with us in the gulch?
