Are We At War With Mexico?

Yesterday, a man who is a U.S. Border Guard e-mailed me. I returned his e-mail and we started a dialog, parts of which I promised not to repeat. However, the gist of the conversation was as follows: People who bring illegals over the border are called coyotes. The coyotes and drug runners have been found using very deadly Russian Kalashnikov (AK47) and Bizon sub machine guns. They do not hesitate to shoot at border guards and actually wound and kill more than are reported. As the illegals flood into the USA along Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, the total so far is between 15 and 20 million, with thousands entering daily. This guard operated out of Laredo. Just across the border in Mexico is Nuevo Laredo. I visited there many years ago. It was a tourist type town, selling goods cheaper than the USA but with a bit too much in the way of prostitution. I was brought there by my blood brother Harry Hill a full blooded Ojibway Indian, may the earth lay lightly upon him. Today, Nuevo Laredo is a hell-hole. Virtually lawless with daily gun battles of competing drug gangs and certain death to Americans daring to enter there without an iron man outfit. The president of Mexico does nothing to stop the flood of illegals and drugs even though he is fully aware of what is happening. The next thing the border guard told me -- and this is purely his and some of his brother officer's thoughts that they believed it was the desire of Mexico to reclaim the lands they believe is rightly theirs, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and southern California. They can't do it by direct confrontation, but with millions of Mexicans already in America some day in the future there may be a real incursion. Already, many farmers and ranchers on the border are forming vigilante groups and confronting the well-armed coyotes and drug people with weapons of their own. They are angry and are not going to wait for what they see as a do-nothing government. Is this war? It sure is beginning to look like it.

No we aren't at war with Mexico. If we were one million per year US citizens wouldn't be living down here six to 12 months of the year. The borders would be covered by armed military troops. And the President of Mexico would be doing more to stop the illegals but then what incentive? Every thing you discovered is old news and the fence still only reaches a few miles in it's new version.

What worries me is I would have to or be forced to move back north of the border. Better here than an out and out police state that is very very unsafe. Someday there may be a real incursion. Where you been?

The three facts are 1. Employers want cheap labor rather than paying US Wages. 2. The left wants cheap votes. 3. The citizens want cheap hamburgers and chicken 4. No one that it's in power really gives a damn including the citizens and 5. . Let's not forget to those AK's and Bizons are not the only weapons. Eric Gun Runner Holder sent down at least a thousand.

Most Mexicans don't have weapons.. It's against the law.

And most of those crossing are from the South. The Nortenos know better.

I cannot imagine moving back north and having to live poor mouth again while the government keeps ripping of my retirement fund.

After 20 plus years in the combat arms of the USA I came to the conclusion I deserved better. Our oath was and still is to the Constitution what's that got to do with the rest of the citizens of the USA?

I was mostly relaying the words of a border guard.
I guess what you might call the actions on the border a shadow war. According to him, lots of combat goes on in the area around Laredo and Nuevo Laredo that's not reported. The border guards are told not to engage the smugglers, but when they are shot at, many disregard that order. He gave me some names dates and places but cautioned me not to say anything for both our sakes. It could all be bogus, but it felt very real to me.

The most dangerous area is 50 miles south of the border and 100 north of the border. Followed by places like Acapulco and the other larger cities with huge tourist populations. One statistic I found was death rates. For US Citizens a bit less than 3 or a bit more than 3 per 100,000. That's for all of Mexico including those who were involved in certain activities. US was three point five per 100,000 nationwide. Texas was six near seven and the Houston was double digit all per 100,000 population. That was US government figures Since the cartel wars calmed down the figures relating to those have declined. Still it' s much safer to live south of the border after the first 50 miles. Then just use common sense same as anywhere.

A lot of is a relative term. As compared to what? Most of the Border Patrol tell me they spend most of their time filling in for Immigration or filling in forms with little time left for patrol. I'm on the AZ border.

Anything that can't be printed and verified is not a usable quote.....that's pure objectivism.

Most dangerous area is federal property a big park land about 40 miles wide and 150 miles south to north situated on the border between Tucson and Phoenix. It's closed to the public and marked as a danger areas. They do not patrol it The State and local police do not enter no matter who calls for help. We had this one as discussion not too long ago. It was mostly ignored. As is this rather large highway feeding into the US and past the100 mile no bill of rights zone.

However the largest percentage of any affected group the native or natural or adopted US Citizens that are Latino are very outspoken in asking where's the security?

The governor asked for 3,000 US soldiers to do their job and protect the country. He was ignored.

Illegal immigration ranks something like 20th out of 25 issues for the election.

It's just not important enough ....
