The people with money, the aristocracy, were first up to bat when the industrial age hit the ground running. they transferred the serf, slave mentality from the farms to the factories and continued looting the masses. From that sprang two major ideas. One socialism another master and slave situation using chained minds and two the concept of individual ability to think, reason, and be responsible for one's own actions which also introduced using ballots not bullets to select a government. and a second idea. It's ok to help your neighbor without taking all he has in payment. thus. The US Constitution and the Monroe Doctrine. But it was not to last. Independent pioneer spirit ran out of room to the west and in the east new immigrants ran into an ambush called....socialist aristocracy.

Life in a nutshell retained the concept of cannon/factory fodder and baby factories.
