Ideally, the actor playing John Galt in Atlas Shrugged Part 3 will appear to have jumped right off of the pages of Atlas Shrugged. However, in our quest to find the perfect John Galt, some tough choices may have to be made. That's where you come in.

If you had to choose, which would you consider the number one priority in casting John Galt?

A. As long as the actor looks and acts like John Galt, I don't care what his personal beliefs are.
B. The actor needs to possess a deep understanding of, and passion for, Ayn Rand's ideas first and foremost.

No way in hell I would cast Tom Hanks in AS III. He's a super-lib. Can you imagine him going on a publicity tour? He might tell people not to see the film.

Of course, you are referring to the original film's star, Michael Rennie. Actually, I was okay with Keanu Reeves in the re-make, it was the script that was terrible.

    >>>We need someonr who has passion about freedom and liberty..

What you actually need is someone who can write, someone who can direct, and people who can act. It's not necessary that they actually be Objectivists.

Sorry, but I thought he was great in the Da Vinci Code. Not sure how/why you consider him 'tainted'.

I was so NOT looking forward to DB Sweeny as Galt. He's a good actor, but he would never be John Galt in my eyes. He would never be able to project the kind of image that would attract Dagny, Francisco et al to his cause. I would alsmost consider not going to the theater if he will be playing that role.

Personally, I'd prefer to see Kurt Russel, Sean Bean or Keanu Reeves as John Galt.

I think A is most important. I have a deep understanding of and passion for Ayn Rands ideas ... does that mean I should be the actor? Of course not! If someone does a great job playing a criminal does that mean that are one for real? No, of course not. Just find a great actor that is willing to play the role and will accurately represent John Galt's character. That's most important. No one will go see the movie if the acting sucks.

Rand had no patience for those who put out Objectivist books that were failures as novels. an Objectivist shitty novel is still a shitty novel. same applies to movies. I was discussing your point, not putting words in your mouth. I am rarely careless, Max.

I think the age isn't as important as the actor needs to be believable. DB Sweeney is a great actor and capable of the part. But I'm not making the movie. I also like the first actress in Atlas Shrugged I, better than other actress from part II. Jim Caveziel or Timothy Olyphant would also be very great in the part.

Have Brad Pitt audition for this one, if he isn't already a character in previous versions. (Note: Have not had the opportunity to see the others.).

Ok, so you had no motive, choose your words better next time. I accused you of either intentionally of unintentionally putting words in my mouth, either on purpose or because you were careless. Again, someethong I haven't done to you at all.

If an Objectivist exists that can deliver the lines, and im sure one does, the work of art demands that it be created without contradictions. Its just that simple.

An actor who exudes integrity and subscribes to the ideology of American values and capitalism, objectivism. Clint Eastwood is the actor who comes to mind;if not, perhaps he would have a suggestion.

We think that "B" would clearly help. However, we have great respect for the casting skills you have demonstrated for ASI and ASII. Obviously, you have a greater awareness of your budget, your growing circle of enthusiastic supporters, and subtle elements that work together to create successful movies. Of all the people you might choose, we hope you find someone like Jon Voight ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Voight ) who exemplifies conservative values, a respect for America and her First Principles, and the courage to stand and be counted. We're sure there are many others. Perhaps the best "John Galt" will be the actor we have never seen before. Perhaps he will bring out the essence and courage of the person that Ayn Rand dreamed he would be. Our great respect and encouragement for all that you do. God Speed to you in bringing America a wonderful and timely message. All the Best! Liza and Jack

Only a man who is truly the ideal man can bring life to John Galt. Also, Rand does not speak of Galt's appearance so much: He was thin and had brown hair. Well, that narrows it down!

How about Antonio Banderas? Not bad looking, and certainly could give it a good showing.

    Strong Faced, Weathered Look
Mel Gibson not exactly an insider
or Jim Cavezel he should have matured by now.

we do not need updates for relevancy...

you are determined to attribute motive to my statement that I did not have. and if THAT fails, the unintended consequence carries the same result. Aren't you doing what you are bent on accusing me of?
My point is there is alot of ground between hedonistic douche and Objectivist in actors: my daughter, for one. Hundreds who practice the craft, have not read Rand perhaps, yet are passionate deliverers who understand how to engage the camera, and can be counted on to do an exceptional job.
