Studying for my world history exam makes me feel so great about the world that we are now in- I can read about ancient Greeks from my computer (a device that couldn't have been imagined a few hundred years ago).
Life is so, so much better than it was even just 50 years ago. Thank you, innovators, inventors - producers. You make it possible.

I wholeheartedly agree. This applies to all kinds of measures- risk of being killed in a car accident, risk of being a victim of a crime, the risk/invasiveness of an appendectomy, ability for the average citizen to share his ideas or art with the world, the average person's acceptance of someone beating his spouse or children. Everything's gotten better.
We should be able to say that aloud without people thinking it means we're at utopia and should give up. We're far from utopia. It doesn't hurt the cause of making things better to look back 50, 100, or 500 years and marvel at how much things have improved.
