Most people avoid reality...they also, somehow, continue that avoidance in order to deal with the consequences of having avoided the reality in the first place..

It's fascinating. Rationalization and doubling down on the justification of error is an everyday coping mechanism. People in politics are the most noticeable examples due to their high public profiles. Cognitive dissonance and coping with that dissonance appears to be the normal condition.

Avoiding reality to avoid reality has permitted people to avoid the consequences of avoiding reality for a prolonged period of time.

This avoidance is made possible by the advancements in industry and technology.

We are now, in this and many other countries, able to avoid even moderate hardships. This has permitted us to think that the absurdities of Wonderland are normal.

The difference between rationalizing and rationality is the difference between finding a reason and having one.

Too bad rationality is not as accepted as rationalizing.

          Wrong definition

rational - having reason or understanding

rationale - an explanation of controlling principles of opinion, belief, practice or phenomena

rationalism - a theory that reason is in itself a source of knowledge superior to and independent of sense perceptions.

rationality - the state of being reasonable.

rationalize - to attribute actions to rational and creditable motives without analysis of true and unconscious motives.

Now that you have had your ration of definitions upon which to verbally feast we are back where broskjold22 let off.

          I bid thee do continue.
