A random thought on going Galt

As I sat musing on what would finally compel me to go Galt, it came to my mind why, and how, the characters in AS did it. My conclusion was this:
As to the why, conditions had gotten to the point they could no longer exist as people without surrendering to the State.
As to the how, they felt so compelled that they left everything behind, except their thoughts and skills, and just ........ left. But I do not mean to imply to just vacate the land to the mindless morons who would follow. I also can imply, would we also "go Galt" in the sense of leaving all we hold dear and separate ourselves to a battle of a far different sort to preserve what we treasure.

I still have yet to reach that point but the time is fast approaching, I fear, when the decision will be forced upon me, and others.

Can we find the moral courage to do so?

Hi John. My father started working the retail store we have in 1962. He became 50% partner in 1972 and bought out his partner in the mid '80s. I have worked here since I was about 12 years old. It would be very hard for me to reach a point where I could just walk away. Five years ago I would never have considered it. Now I am thinking what the tipping point will be for me. Pathetic that our politicians have pushed so many of us to this point.

Interesting. I recently told my wife that I think the only real reason we have stayed is my ability to earn a good income. For us, it appears, that is part of the equation. We also are closely watching what is going on in Cal with family/parental rights. That means a lot to us. Is the country like a helicopter that just through a blade and is starting to really shake? You bet. The big parts may start ripping off soon... I'm not one of those (and I know many) who plan to "stand and fight". No thanks. Knock yourselves out with that... I say they can keep it if it comes to that.
