Doctor's asking children strange questions.

Tonight I spoke with another father at my son's karate class. His daughter, a year older than my boy, recently had a visit with a pediatrician at Kaiser. They asked my friend to leave the room. Then, they asked the little girl if her father ever touched her inappropriately and if there were guns in the house. The dad is a tall, fit, handsome guy who's very well spoken and seems to be a great father and family man. This really trips me out, that doctors would be asking such questions, let alone asking the parent to leave the room. Has anybody else experienced something similar? Is this normal?

    Welcome to the US under the Obama Healthcare Tax. After all our children belong to everyone.... right?
    Don't parents have the right to refuse access to their children. Who's to say the Doctor isn't behaving inappropriately... like asking children to spy on their parents? Of course tyranny and fascism could never rise up here.

        Blasphemer! Burn them... burn them all. However, this really isn't a case of the "church of medicine." It is the church of state exercised through "private" medicine and "private" insurers (hence, the fascism reference, we're already there folks) . The follow up on the interaction with my doctor (he is in practice with his wife) is that his son is college freshman and not sure of his direction other than bio-science. The doctors' advised him to stay as far away from human medicine as possible. This conversation was a direct result of my comment on the Obama Healthcare Tax questions.The family GP is in it until her loans are paid. I am sure just about everyone can relate similar stories, including members of MSM.

    Just a reminder, but the ACA encourages doctors to ask such questions and report them to CPS as dangers to the child. It is a blatant attempt by the government to intimidate and control those who value family and traditional rights.

    Here's how we answer them:
    My child is here to be treated for [insert illness here]. If you are unwilling to perform this service, I will take them and my business elsewhere. Your responsibility according to the Hypocratic Oath is to treat your patients and that priority comes before anything else.

    Every visit to a VA doc has involved questions that were none of their business for a number of years. Now we see these things spreading out from a centralized government for centralized control of our increasingly centralized lives.

    When O Care came into effect a friend of mine was told by her Dentist No less that when the "Law" went into effect there would be questions that he had to ask of her during appointments...ALL were sexual in nature of her daily sexual experiences how long it has been, did she use protection etc. all very intrusive this IS the O Law idiots who voted the Dem's into office gave to all American's of all ages!

    The guns BS pisses me off. The other stuff is standard "check up on your friends" stuff, doctors trying to look out for people. Whenever any of our 6 kids were born, after I left the hospital, the nurses always asked my wife if there was any problem with domestic violence, etc. It's pretty standard.

    Now, them asking the parent to leave the room, eh... but, how else are they going to get a straight answer out of the kid if their dad's beating or molesting them? OR, if some random babysitter or friend at school or anyone.

      The problem is that unless they suspect abuse, they have no business asking in the first place - no probable cause if you want to call it that.

      The problem with this is the mentality that one is guilty until proven innocent and that the State gets to decide who is innocent. That smacks of authoritarianism.

    Yes, I have. About two years ago in Fresno, CA, I was being prepared for eye surgery. The person who drove me to the appointment, the surgeon, an assisitant and I were in the room. Suddenly a nurse appeared and ordered all but me out of the room. The nurse then asked me if I had any thoughts of harming myself or others. I answered no. I then asked her why the question. She answered by saying that the Federal Government wanted the information. This is anything but normal, at least in a free country

      I was asked about tobacco use at the eye doctor. I gave the nurse a pass, but asked the doctor if it was a medical question or Obama question. He turned to me and smiled. I then asked what would happen if a difficult minded patient simply declined to answer... I would have to pay my bill in cash because he can not collect from the private insurance agencies without the government answers... enter fascism. Yes, this is anything, but normal.
