Found someone who understood...once

I've always had a little bit of a hope that I could find a guy around my age who understands Objectivism and who doesn't flee out of fright when they hear a woman who can stand on her own (especially in a debate). I once had a guy tell someone I was "scary", and that I had "a look in my eyes" when I talked about Ayn Rand with him. Really? Is the look of confidence now scary to some men these days? It's kind of sad. Then one day, I met someone at a party who got it. It was a weird across the room situation, he overheard me saying "who is John Galt?" and he came over to me and said "A=A?" Well too bad I never saw him again, I believe he's in the military. Well here's to hope, and knowing that at least y'all understand my pain!

looks like the closest to me is a bit over an hour away. It's the same with a club around me (the Great Lakes Objectivists I believe), it was incredibly fun but a really long drive, so I only made it out once, but I'll have to find a way to go again soon. And I'll check out the atlasphere!

Well, Michigan is quite far from SC, but the youngest one might be applying to grad school at MSU.

Gosh, I need to reread everything. I've been reading hundreds of pages a night for school stuff and now that it's summer I can finally read what I want to again. I'm from Michigan, and 20-29 (I'm a senior in college).

Exactly, my husband and my Mom are the only ones who can carry on a real conversation (gulch peeps excluded of course).

I'm glad that your wife and you found each other! Gives me a little hope that I'll find my Hank (or Henry if you're a Fountainhead fan too).

There are people out there... I do not believe the vast majority are ready to understand some of these ideas. I had to convert a guy in our office by getting him to read AS in order to have someone other than my wife to talk to... keep faith.

Maybe you only *thought* it was the look of confidence, but it was really the intense stare of the cultist when she recites dogma.

In other words, look at yourself before you point fingers. I thought that's what Randists were supposed to do anyway.

AndreaK you give me hope. I've searched for my Hank for a long time and only found a bunch of James, some Wesley Mouches.

There's little more attractive than a woman with 'spirit' - in my opinion anyway. ;]
