Another pompous arrogant ass who refuses to answer the question. How can there be global warming when temps are cooling? Again and again he says we can't look at one weather event. Its not one event...its clearly a trend.

A meterologist gave a talk to my local electronics engineering society in fall of 2012. We had had over a year of way above normal temperatures in Wisconsin. I asked her is this global warming. She said you couldn't know b/c global warming is about trends over decades. It's hard to look at a few years' data and say. She said there had been similar warm periods for a year or two in WI's history. She said "weather is not climate".

After her trip, the warm period continued, and we had a mild winter. The summer, though, was cool, and this winter has been very cold. So if I were an idiot, I would have concluded in a year ago we were in major warming. Today I would conclude we're in an unbelievable cooling period. You can't go by one region and one time.

I'm not sure what the solution to climate change will be, but people's capacity for wishful thinking is astounding.

Sure. If I would agree to be interviewed I would answer any question. If he thinks the German and Russian researchers are quacks then say so. If he thinks the article mis-quoted the researchers then explain. He just looked ignorant.

Hey Maph how have you been? I think what bothered me most about this particular interview is that the professor would not address the opinions of German and Rusian researchers that we are in a cooling cycle. He refused to answer because the interviewer was quoting from a Forbes article. Typical of the Global Warming crowd. If you don't agree with them they ignore you.

That's pretty interesting. I guess I hadn't ever thought about the distinction between climate and weather before, but that definitely makes sense. According to your understanding, what is the difference between the two concepts exactly?

LMAO. This is the same nonsense that people say when we have warm weather. People's capacity for wishful thinking and confusing weather and climate blows my mind. I understand the motivation to for wishful thinking. Maybe it's b/c I work in science, so it almost comes naturally to suppress my desire and try to see things how they really are. I imagine other jobs require this same skill. Yet capacity to deny things we wish weren't true shocks me.

Global climate "change" is real. The climate is changing all the time. Is mankind primarily responsible? Doubtful, as more claimed "climate change emissions" were created in the 19th and early 20th centuries than in the last 50 years. Yet the climate change propagandists claim that the changes have occurred in the past 50 years.
More likely the effects are due to sunspot cycles than mankind.

    Greetings O. A.

I recall from the 70's a program hosted by Leonard Nimoy called "In Search Of" where the big prediction was a man made ice age due to cover NYC by the year 2010. Gosh, it's a good thing for NYC that "they" changed their minds to global warming instead. LOL!

It's hard to believe that for the little bit of time we have been on this planet that we actually think we can predict weather patterns and cycles.

It is not just one event. It has involved much of North America for months. If they want us to paint our roofs white to reflect the sun, what do they think this widespread blanket of snow is doing? The entire Winter has reminded me of the ones we had in the seventies when we were experiencing a new Ice age... Whatever... :)

Yep, that's why the vernacular is now "climate change". "Global Warming" really sounds pretty stupid when the continent is freezing over. To protect you against climate change means your rights can be reduced and your taxes raised no matter what the weather does. But wait! There seems to be some evidence climate change has been going on since the beginning of the planet. Even before there were people, by golly!

It the winter is cold, it’s global warming, if the winter is warm it global warming. If the summer is cool its global warming, if the summer is hot it’s global warming.
Is there any part of the weather or the climate that is not caused by global warming? C’mon guys!!
