So long, Jay.

$5Au is not really a fan of late night TV, but he does appreciate a Democrat with the brass ones to stand up to a Democrat president who is a fool, rather than simply regurgitating the Party line (cf., Letterman).

Will really miss his honesty. Enjoyed his bit
about no longer having health insurance, he
will now have to go to Obamacare! Zing!!! Don't think he really wanted to leave but the
WH was very unhappy with his comments re:Bat-Head......Too bad; too sad.

Jay Leno is a car guy, a real guy. His Jay Walking was great when it pointed out how uninformed and stupid people were, yet funny as well as pathetic. I grew up watching Carson on school nights, and he was good. I really missed Doc Severinson and the good music, which none of the current late night hosts have.
I don't care for any of the other hosts and especially dislike the boring Letterman. I about gagged when he interviewed the remaining Beatles, how pathetic. I did give Stewart points when he interviewed Clooney, who actually called Hitler "not a nice guy", and Stewart made a comment about the "communist" in the White House. No need to stay up late now that Jay is gone.

AMEN to Robbie's comment about being an honest comedian.

I like HBO... Maher, OTOH, is rarely funny, consistantly boring, thrives on ego and conflict, and his whole "born again prostheletyzing athiest communism" schtick is pretty old. Never bothered with Letterman. Stewart (and his co-anchors, including Colbert) aren't bad if you remember it's a comedy schtick, NOT news.

Letterman is an unabashed apologist and ceased being funny more than 10 years ago. Maher is an out-and-out shill. Stewart has his moments where he will poke fun of blatant absurdity, so I'd take him over any of the others, but that isn't to say the majority of his jokes are at the expense of conservatives/libertarians.

Leno recognized his job was to entertain. He was smart enough to ask questions that were on the minds of most Americans rather than mere softballs, which anyone with anything other than marshmallows for brains recognize as toadying.

Jay at least was an "honest" comedian. As opposed to Letterman, Maher, and Jon Stewart.
