Well, I guess I can congratulate you for your accomplishment. But I see so much in your philosophy and planks that is so different from my own understanding of Objectivity, that I fail to find much to interest me. Pragmatic and compromise positions even before the battle begins seems to me to be giving in, rather than standing for a political or personal philosophy. It's hard to see how The Gulch could have helped much with much of that.
But best of luck to you.

Have you ever read anything by Ayn Rand? (I always liked your username. My "half libs" are the No Motto variety.) Your Whig principles of pragmatism and compromise displayed on your website are in conflict with Rand's statements in non-ficition essays on Objectivism. They also run against several plot elements in "Atlas Shrugged." Head of State Mr. Thompson is a middle-of-the-roader who pleads for pragmatism and compromise.

Historically, the original Whigs were English parliamentarians. Their American cousins took the name because their defining cause was opposition to Pres. Andrew Jackson. On the upside, there is a "Whig Theory of HIstory" that argued for an evolution in political freedom based on English custom.

It is Whig philosophy which is not based on Objectivism, although there is overlap, e.g., an aversion to State control of everything. Compromise is not possible in all situations. The current group of Democrats running DC have rarely been willing to compromise; they are too far left. A prime example is Obamacare, in which they completely shut out GOP input. Have I read Ayn Rand? See the Reading List page.

I was wondering myself how a site all about "compromise" could have been inspired by this site in any way, shape, or form aside from the idea of building or producing something of course.

Your site looks to have admirable principles. Well done!
Are you aware that the Whig Party had corporate welfare as the primary plank, and (subject to argument, of course) their high tarriff policies were adopted by republicans and were a primary cause of Lincoln's War to Destroy States Rights? (reference to well researched writings of Thomas DiLorenzo)
