Global Cooling?

Here in the Arizona Desert: Last night we had the "300 year flood" after having the "200 year flood and 100 year floods" over the last couple of weeks. Temperatures went as low as 69deg(cold enough to be Xmas in July for this area). So far the records for lows and rainfall have been broken almost every day but not mentioned within the weather reports. This from the area that hit 127deg in the same month and shut down the airport because it was to hot for the tires on the planes.

The weather reports are now becoming Science Fiction. Could they actually be spinning the weather reports more than the political news? We did our own "Watters World/Mark Dice" while shopping and it was quite amusing watching people literally freeze up like a computer with a bad program when we mentioned how "cool" it was for this time of year and how all of the records for rainfall an low temperatures had been shattered. Out of 30 people not one person thought it was cool for this time of year although the temperature was 79deg although it was 38 deg below "normal" and 25 deg below the previous record low for the day. About a third were argumentative about how hot it was. I can't help but believe that we have divided into Homo Sapiens and Homo Sheeple.

That was an interesting experiment. I too have found it difficult to find accurate accounts of contemporary weather. It occurs to me that a source that did this would be appreciated by many people - perhaps this is a business opportunity.

We could probably get away with a weather section here on the Gulch if if they would go for it. The problem is that doing so might illicit reprisals from the weather police.

What I found more significant was the reaction of people when confronted with the equivalent of a Pink Elephant with Purple Spots roaming around in front of them. Because they had been indoctrinated into believing this was something else they believed that it was something else.

Cool, Rainey, heavily clouded days in July, in the Arizona desert, are the equivalent of a Pink Elephant. (We are noted for our Monsoon Storms, but this is quite different). I actually did have one person try to argue me into believing that it was unusually hot outside when it was in truth unusually cool. A couple of people tried to explain that the reason for the rain and cool weather was due to global warming. The vast majority just got a confused look and there were physical signs; they froze like a deer caught by headlights, or moved back an forth like a robot confronted with a situation it wasn't programed for. The physical reactions were really quite amusing. Most of these people then said the same exact thing, almost word for word; "But its so hot out."

Ayn had it right and expressed this several times; It all boils down to controlling public opinion.
