Karl Rove: Only Way To Stop The Violence Is To Repeal Second Amendment

No, Mr. Rove, you don't understand. Areas in the US that have restrictions on the second amendment right to keep and bear arms are typically HIGHER in crime and violence than those that do not.

Disarming the population has historically resulted in very bad things...

Oh yeah and before we lose out right to keep and bear arms. Glad I'm in a gun friendly state.

I get a slight inclination that possibly you don't care too much for Mr. Rove? And I'm not saying that Mr. Rove is not a blowhard either. He isn't particularly a fan of mine but the headline is taken out of context to generate excitement, otherwise would anyone have even bothered to read the article? By not actually listening to what Rove or anyone else has to say we fall into the trap where we jump to conclusions and make gross errors in our decisions. Take those that vote "D", because it's the patriotic thing to do. Exactly what facts can they recite to back up their positions on any subject? None!!!

These kinds of headlines are geared to generate emotion, and in some cases to further split the people in order to conquer. The president right now is again trying to insure there will remain a split between white and black, Christians and Jews, cops and the public, and any category where he can then tell them he is on their side. This will insure they vote as he tells them so he can continue to falsely support them in trying to overcome the dissention he has actually helped create. They will of course then vote for the big "D", it's the patriotic thing to do and he's on “our side”, we gotta vote for him.

It's like PC, it's what could destroy the American way of life if the people don't see through the trash talk. None of its even related to the issues of what we need for a leader to insure that we progress and make this country free again. It's just another gross distraction. What really happened in Benghazi? Did Hillary not defend our people, did she order the stand down, or was she totally oblivions (incompetent) as to what was going on until it was too late? Why did she push the offensive movie theory? Why did she continue to push the movie story even after the facts had some out? Is she just another politician, or was she an effective Secretary of State? What else did she “accomplish” as Secretary of State? Personally I think she had the title but was actually campaigning instead of tending to duty. She’s the kind of employee that has to be directed and watched all the time.

I also believe we all need to concentrate on educating our friends that are on the fence, our ignorant friends, those that we really like but that don’t have a political factual brain cell in their head. I know I’ve awakened a few, and I’ve totally lost a few (one in particular for life), but it will be more effective than just us relating the facts between ourselves. If everyone one of us can educate just one person, we’ll actually double our base. And then we’ve got to get all our political friends to do the same. We’ve only got a little over a year my friends. Get it on.

Cain slain Able with a rock we should outlaw rocks. The family in DC beaten to death with baseball bat so let's out law bats. If one wants to kill nothing will stop them. What is needed is people being raised with self worth and respect for one another.

Rove was NOT advocating repeal - just making point that violence involving guns is inherent with this most important & basic constitutional right!

I would ask Mr. Rove to tell me when banning anything that the public wants has ever worked. England is a prime example of an unarmed citizenry being prey to criminals with guns. Unless you are running a police state, there is no way to ban a desirable item, and even then it is difficult at best. The wonder is, why the myriad examples of this still hasn't struck home.

I seem to recall the good Mr. Rove as being himself arrested for carrying a gun, which he claimed he was entitled to carry because he was an ex-FBI agent. Rove is a typical conservative (or liberal) member of the Big Government Party in allhe does or says: Do as I say, not as I do. The anointed all think the same way.

Whenever Karl Rove appears on Fox News, as he often does on O'Riley, I immediately pluck up my remote and go on a channel surf at least until a peek back reveals he is off.
    Yes, Rove makes me rove.
That's because Romney lost the presidential election. Up until then, almost night after night on Fox News, a smiling Rove was holding up his scrawled poll tabulations all indicating Obama would lose his reelection.
After Obama won, you'd think Rove would have lost all credibility. But no-o!
Rove's smiling face was back on Fox News in a heartbeat. Once I even saw him lift up one of his scrawled poll tabulations as I was reaching for my remote.
What are you gonna do, Klueless Karl when someone in a Leatherface mask unlocks your door with a chainsaw? Stay on the phone with 911?
Tabulate this, Talking Head Brainiac: You only have seconds when it takes the cops minutes.

Karl Rove wasn't advocating repeal of the 2nd Amendment here, it was taken out of context, he said the only way gun violence won't happen [in any] society is to completely remove all of the guns, basically, he is saying that evil exists in people. As long as there are people, and tools, some will kill others. There isn't going to be an 'end' to this.

The kid looks like a pussy though, if one of them had been armed (I'm not advocating we strap-up for church every day), but if one had a side arm, he would have definitely left the building without doing anything. He looks like the type that will only prey on the helpless.

He didn't actually say that. He said that He was speaking hypothetically. He said the only way to eliminate gun violence was to eliminate all guns. Can't argue with the premise. No guns, no gun violence. But he said that repealing the second amendment was not the the answer.
IMHO the answer if not enough guns. More folks armed, the more likely a criminal on a rampage gets stopped sooner. I love the yard sign "My Neighbor believes in gun control...We don't"

Mr. Rove spoke ambiguously on this point. In so doing, he reminded me very much of Jim Taggart and his fellow rogues in AS.

That being said: we all remember what Benjamin Franklin said about selling essential liberty to buy a little temporary safety. Let's also remember the context of that remark. Franklin faced frontier settlers who wanted British troops to guard their settlement against the N.A. raiders. Franklin advised them instead to arm themselves and defend themselves by themselves. Any government powerful enough to defend, can also tyrannize.

This is like saying the only way to end rare medication errors and overdoses is to eliminate medications altogether.

Well the public got what it voted for. What's the problem? Once again and modified to include the latest Haller ruling. Three Amendments involved. Second, ninth and tenth. It starts with the ninth and tenth. Government doesn't have the right to restrict firearms ownership at the federal level. It's a not right given to government. Voters have granted it to the state level. The Second Amendment until recently one unit but not uncoupled which makes no difference was set up to protect the States and the ninth and tenth amendments from the federal government.

Government doesn't have the power to grant anything. Only citizens can do that.

What I've seen is the high crime areas are typically in locations where voters have granted that right to the State or local governments.

Ninth has to come first. Tenth next, All protected by the Second.

Cherry picking will get you every time or the devils in the details.

DC vs Halller very carefully skirted the need to address the Rights Not Granted issue and with equal care put most of the ball back in the State and local governments court. they really don't want to be forced into addressing the issue head on. I wouldn't doubt the court would refuse a case if they thought that would happen.

Rove though is dead wrong. repealing the Second removes it's protection of the 9th and 10th. Just as stupid an idea as turning Senators into Representatives at large. Bye Bye checks and balances.

Well that would certainly let the police departments put that military hardware to use as they go from house to house forcibly confiscating 300,000,000 guns.

    Yeah, that's gonna work out.

They deny the tools of self-defense, which practically denies our right to self-defense, which implicitly denies our right to life. This is the Code of Death.
