We are living in a post financial collapse period. 90 million unemployed, QE 1, 2 and QE forever printing programs are currency parachutes. Increased taxes and increased welfare programs are redistribution of wealth from producers to "consumers" in an attempt to maintain civil order not to jump start a free market economy. Increased regulation is designed to maintain civil order. It is all post-financial collapse management.

Can you remember when all the shopping centers were full? When business owners still believed they could grow their businesses, that tomorrow would be better than today. When did doubt start to replace hope, caution replace optimism. Fear replace confidence

I do agree with the post; however, I would change ONE word. The author states "post-financial"; I would change to "PRE-complete financial collapse". When I first loved Economics 50 years ago, I was taught that Consumer Spending was about 30% GNP; should it ever increase to the point where our GNP is dependent on Consumerism, then the Republic is lost. For the looters and moochers have quietly taken over. Today, 70% of GNP is Consumer Spending; the ONLY reason for Obama to cut SSA withholding by 3% on the worker part was to get Consumer Spending fired and increase the economy. How can we, as a country at all levels, be so mindless. Spending never increases an economy it only permits the looters more control over the money supply by the printing of more mere paper. We will never see this Republic survive; the hole is just too big, the moochers still queuing up, and the Rabbit making it easier to get in line. Last week it was published that For-profit Cancer Centers (you have see the tv ads) no longer accept and even moved out Medicare patients. Why? April 1 started the cuts to providers (producers) that if the whole facility was Medicare, they, the Center, would go broke. I am old now and can no longer produce. So listen to me, you Producers, prepare and get YOUR money hidden from the Looters--that will mean get it out of banks, trusts anything that the government KNOWS about or cannot touch. Looters of this nation cannot touch your money in over 120 places on this earth; the closest being Canadian dollars. Forget gold; get silver in coins. Gold to silver value has always been 16 to 1; today it is more than 25 to 1. Imagine if gold goes to as low as $2000 and silver stays at its price now. The ratio increases; super inflation comes; and silver coin is the only fortune in this country that can be hidden. The Looters can take your land by eminent domain; they can nationalize your company; they can increase your taxes; they can break into your home--all in the name of "the public good" And the American public lost its brain 25 years; some 40 years ago and I fear it shall never be found. The Gulch and freedom and disappearance.

I really don't think it is "pre-complete financial collapse". I think it happened and everything since has been fiscal coverup. They are robbing Peter to pay Paul. Pillaging private property to cover criminal public "investment". The Looters and Moochers are in control and running rampant. There is no respect for private property, only the lie they call the "common good" or their "fair share". The Emperor has NO clothes!

All that you say is true. A Marine officer friend has told me that the military has been training for urban rebellion in the USA. The training includes, of course, drones. They have permission to shoot to kill. I am all over marching with weapons; of course we will all die but what a message to the rest of the "people" and most of all to the world. America would certainly be finished as a reliable nation; China will claim its investments; and American becomes the size of the Rockies to the Mississippi. I do believe that trials such as Henry Reardon's will become daily but the outcome will not be as Hank's; the people will disappear but into the holes prepared by the Looters already.
Rand was right in every way except one, our Producers are moving overseas or just shutting down and going overseas. Maybe that is where the Gulch truly is.

Will the masses come to grips with this reality, or will the painful consequences of 'sticking theirs heads in the sand' be the only wake up call?... Time will tell... Soon...

I would call the current time post peak but not post collapse. We are on the down slope heading faster and faster toward the collapse. I'm afraid the "collapse" will be much worse and is yet come.

Rick1217, I think your comments about "Consumer" spending got a bit mixed up. If consumer spending was over 70% that would mean government spending would be below 30% and that would be good. We seem to argree high government spending is bad. But your comment seems to say high consumer spending is bad. I thought high consumer spending was good.

90% will suffocate with their minds occupied by Entertainment Tonight, laugh tracks and "action movies" avoiding "stupid politics", "boring economics" and "overly complicated issues". I think it's the Gulch or nothing.

Tried to send those words via yahoo email to 1 person that I know and I was asked to complete a captcha to help them "fight spam" before I could send it. It stopped me. Never had that happen before. A little spooky folks.
