Hmmm.. and the banks just got fined 5.7 billion for manipulating the LIBOR rate, and no one has been indicted. Maybe the bankers just threatened the Justice Department with something bad happening to the economy. I'm not sure Soccer can match that threat level....
Nice to see Loretta swung into action right away and nailed those nasty soccer dudes, and the evil Baltimore Police. Maybe she will take on the Democratic and Republicans next. Oh wait, she's one of them. Maybe just the Republicans then...

    I feel so protected now.
Never mind the gigantic long-necked 77-ton Argentinosaurus for mega-scandals in the room called the Clinton Foundation.

I suppose Rand did not include any investigation of professional sports, national or international--because she never imagined that such a thing would get government attention.

"Nobody is above or beyond the law." Not the IRS? DOJ? WH?
While we are paying for the cake being eaten (or thrown away), shouldn't this investigation of FIFA be more aptly pursued by The Hague? the UN? or a coalition of the soccer ball manufacturers? Oh, under inflated soccer balls!

Yes, apparently Tom Brady was found guilty of something involving someone and punished accordingly.

That does seem to be the model. Too bad it is never something that really should be addressed, then something might actually get done. It seems to move along a baseline of misdirection and obfuscation.

Salty, you are indeed correct, in that it seems a lot of this stuff is used to distract and manipulate the perception of the crowd so that the real issues remain buried, and thus do not need to be addressed. They can then go about their business. These aren't the droids you are looking for......

It's not only this administration, Coaldigger. Remember back a few years...boots on the ground in two countries, and our Congress took up the debate on steroid use in college baseball. A serious topic, no doubt. But with two wars going on, I think we might have put that on hold for a bit. But during an election year build up, we can't have anything controversial now can we?

This is so typical of this administration. No matter what happens in the country or the world, find the issue of least significance and launch some big program that solves nothing. Before anyone calls you on it, change the focus as many times it takes for them to forget where they started. When you finally get back on track and ask the question that needs to be answered, they call it old news.

Exactly my thoughts, there are a lot bigger fish to catch, which might actually help reduce the burden government presents, maybe that is why. Job Security.

    Way to go, Loretta!

I for one can't think of any bigger crime problems in this country than corruption in soccer!
