I have no intention to buy slugs, though slugs fired from long range (for a shotgun) were part of an annual NRA shotgun qualification I had to pass as a prison officer at least 21 times.
During my first year of 1982 I stopped a prison escape by firing a warning shot with a .30-.06 I had never fired before.
That was replaced soon by AR-15s they trained us to shoot (had prior M-16 military experience).
But my boasting digresses--
Before the range we're speaking of became a business instead of a place the City of Pleasant Grove had set up for their cops and the general public to shoot at, I qualified there one time for the Alabama DOC back around 1985. Only 5 minutes from my house!
Before that I had to drive an hour to another state prison before the range at the prison I worked at was completed.
No one in his/her right mind would truly want to engage in war with another country unless by doing so we were protecting our way of life, our liberties and the freedoms that we have fought and died for over the past 200 years. In any negotiation between countries with dramatic ideological differences, war or its possibility must always be on or close to the table.
Indoor anges around here will allow slugs but not shot.
But I could easily see China becoming the dominant power in poor parts of the world, especially if we have an economic crisis and they don't. Their troops are already in Iraq, Nigeria, and Sudan. And we should probably withdraw from those places anyway, because we don't need the oil anymore. Let the Europeans or Japan fight China for control of Arab countries if they need the oil. It's not our problem.
Now if they moved into any place in the Americas, I might think differently. A Russian or Chinese base in Venezuela or Cuba could become a major threat to us.
The range where I used to shoot my shotgun no longer accepts shotguns.
Nor am I a hunter and this is not hunting season.
Guess I could throw them away.
