A Little About Me

I'm having some problem with posting using my old email address. So I hope this post goes where good posts should go:)
I have a bachelor's in psychology and a master's in instructional technology. Both degrees are from USC.
I was introduced to Rand's thinking when I was 18 years old.
When Branden came to Los Angeles, I saw him in group therapy. I went to a number of his various intensives about self-esteem. I saw him for private therapy. I knew the man off and on over a span of about 30 years.
I have also gone to different workshops coming from a number of different paradigms that I won't go into here.
The point is that I have a reasonable working knowledge of the thinking of both Rand and Branden when it comes to psychology.
After I got my master's degree from USC, I created the self-esteem-self-help mailing list. I served as Head Coach and helped folks both via email and via phone.
I am opting to make this workshop about releasing because, compared to the other psychologists I've studied over the decades, this is *far* simpler. Simpler to understand. Simpler to execute. The results, though, can be profound.
My ultimate purpose in making this workshop is to learn more about releasing for my own use (though I'm getting tremendous value out of it, just having read a tenth or so of what Carrington wrote) and I'm training myself to give workshops of my own. For both reasons, I'm charging nothing throughout 2014. That may change a year from now.
I also intend to integrate what I learned from Branden as well as some other psychologists, eventually, once we all complete Carrington's book on releasing.
I hope this makes you feel a tad more confident at giving my workshop a sincere try.
Best to all for a magical year ahead,
Mike

    Mike,
It's a little confusing that you have opened three accounts to use. I'd suggest sticking with one username. welcome to the gulch.

Like you, my life experience grew from self-discovery after my introduction to Objectivism. Like you, I also explored different modalities beginning with Nathaniel Branden's books on self-esteem. I think we agree that some other useful techniques and practices often come with a lot of theoretical nonsense. I chalk that up to the difficulty of the subject. At first, the "atom" was indivisible. When Thomson discovered the electron, he offered the "pudding" model. With the neutron came the little "solar system" with little balls of minus signs orbiting the nucleus. The human mind is more complicated than the atom. So, applying good standards helps to identify what is truly useful.

    Thanks again for your introduction.
