Atlas Shrugged TV Series

Awhile back I suggested a TV series based on Atlas Shrugged. It deals with other people and other events that occur in conjunction with AS, in the AS universe (basically other people dealing with the Strike and collapse).

Okay, what should the plot of the pilot be?
Should the first story arc deal with the actual actions of AS (which would take a whole season, imo)?
Or should the action in AS raise its head as other storylines progress?

I think one of the early episodes should deal with the story of the 20th Century Motor Company.

Of course, there are tv shows that had multiple plots interweaving and taking place in parallel. I think that might be coolest and help keep viewer attention best.

I think a Game of Thrones approach would be interesting, meaning, each major and even some minor characters get their piece to show their point of view/experiences and why they are the way they are. I think this makes the viewer think more critically about what is being presented. They make up their own mind in the end.

Sounds pretty good to me. I've always understood that in making three movies a positively horrendous amount of back story HAD to be cut. Expansion into a 5 or six season TV series would make it much more understandable.

The audiobook version of AS is 60 hours. There are endless "episodes" in there.

Ayn Rand was actually in the process of converting Atlas Shrugged into a script for a TV series when she passed away. I guess she was so disappointed with how The Fountainhead movie turned out, that she decided only a TV series would be able to capture the story of AS. Too bad she never finished it. :(

TCM is hawking a "best of" DVD of Gary Cooper movies...and one of the four titles on this DVD is The Fountainhead.

If I didn't already own 3 of the 4 titles, I would be buying it!

Turner Classic Movies doesn't agree with your review.... ;-)

My review? I was talking about Ayn Rand's opinion of the movie.

        From Wikipedia:
        ---
In letters written at the time, the author's reaction to the film was positive, saying "The picture is more faithful to the novel than any other adaptation of a novel that Hollywood has ever produced" and "It was a real triumph." However, she displayed a more negative attitude towards it later, saying that she "disliked the movie from beginning to end", and complaining about its editing, acting and other elements. As a result of this film, Rand said that she would never sell any of her novels to a film company that did not allow her the right to pick the director and screenwriter as well as edit the film, as she did not want to encounter the same production problems that occurred on this film.
