Building Blocks of America

This is a rudimentary idea I would like to run by the participants here. Many of us feel that we need to take the control of our governance away from the political elite and actually engage in government *OF*, *BY* and *FOR* (#OBF) the people. My unformed idea is to utilize the concept of a network of autonomous "Block Associations" to kindle participation in local issues and parlay that structure into a nationwide effort.

You will need to lay down the foundational principles first before organizing anything, else you make too many assumptions that later could develop into unwelcomed fissures.

You get agreement on those, then you have something to go back to in case of disagreement. Sounds like the establishment of a constitution to me.

Yes, I can use some input at this point from any interested parties. I have some basic concepts. My feeling is that each "unit" or block should be able to devise the format that works best for their location. The idea being that it is easier for local individuals to organize at the local level and also to determine the issues most critical to them. Hopefully, that would inspire others in the neighborhood to get involved, since they could derive a direct benefit from their involvement. I could be VERY wrong, but I believe that at this point, developing the infrastructure is of the greatest importance. Is that the best place to begin?

Agreed. I do not see how a government *OF* the people could work if people are unwilling to participate at a level that appears to have the greatest "immediate" impact on their lives. Again, this is more or less an unformed idea at this point and any input would be appreciated.
