Why Do They Do It?

So I'm watching this delightful video of one of my favorite Youtube celebrities, Lindsey Stirling, and she's talking about this dance competition.

http://www.danceon.com/video/14-lindsey%...

One of the moves they're told they have to incorporate into their dance is some Coke/Red dance move, part of some ad on the part of the companies to promote knowledge of and reduction of maternal transmission of HIV.

What is with these giant corporations promoting every crackpot cause on the planet? In another post I told how I would have refused to buy a software package because they gave a piece of the money to the Nature Conservancy.

I just don't get why big corporations can't just do their freaking jobs; make a product, reduce the price by what promoting this "cause" costs, and I'll be more likely to buy the product, and I can spend the rest of my money on whatever causes *I* choose.

" if enough do and they make a profit with the added expense of these partnerships, they'll just continue finding more causes to sponsor. "

Another example of the evils of democracy...

I agree with you Hiraghm. I guess they think I will be impressed that they are so compassionate. I would rather they stay out of most causes.

This post is brought to you by Gulch members against Socialism. All points I get from this post will be donated to Objectivist candidates. Thank you.

Now Hraghm, these corporations are just doing their 'civic duty' you know. Gag, gag.

I totally agree with you that if I want to support something I'll send them the support myself, not through a proxy like a corporation.
