How Executives Loot Their Own Companies (and then beg for bailouts)

"Let’s talk about the greatest legalized wealth transfer scheme in modern finance. It’s not some shadowy conspiracy. It’s happening in broad daylight, blessed by regulators, celebrated on CNBC, and it just smashed through the trillion-dollar barrier.

Stock buybacks hit $1.02 trillion in the 12 months through September 2025. That’s trillion with a T. And we still need the numbers on Q4.

That’s not money going into factories. Not into worker wages. Not into R&D. It’s corporations buying their own stock, artificially pumping share prices, and - surprise surprise - executives cashing out at exactly the right moment (for them).

Pure coincidence, I’m sure.

The mechanics are brilliantly simple. When a company repurchases its own shares, it reduces the number of shares outstanding. It’s a simple division: the same earnings are divided by fewer shares. Meaning that the ratio signals a higher earnings per share. 🥳. Stock price goes up. CEO compensation - which is typically 80% stock-based - suddenly balloons.

And who decides when these buybacks happen?
The same executives getting rich off them.

See the problem?
...
American Airlines spent $12.5 billion on buybacks in the decade before COVID, then needed a $5.8 billion taxpayer bailout to survive. They literally bought back stock until they were too fragile to handle a crisis, then socialized the losses.

This pattern repeats across industries. Companies hollow themselves out financially, become brittle and vulnerable, then come hat-in-hand for government support when things go sideways. And taxpayers are subsidizing this behavior - 51 of the Low-Wage 100 firms receive federal contracts while conducting massive buybacks and paying poverty wages."

This is why I keep harping on how Wall St exists because they steal from everyone else.
And the residents of NYC are all enslaved to the thefts by Wall St for their survival.
So-called greatest city in the world? Rubbish.
