I have mixed emotions about insider trading. I'm a Texan. In the 60's for sure this was the way business was done. The same people sat on all the boards of all the companies...I know, I was there and saw them where i worked and other places. But somehow they also made Texas great economically.

I know this might sound weird, but I see a definite and distinct difference between somebody benefitting because he/she is on the board of multiple companies and someone in the government who benefits due to inside information and influence. And regardless of what any of these asswipes in politics says, the implied threat of some kind of retaliation is always there.

I love the idea, but I'm wondering where the line in the sand should be drawn. Some of them are obvious; what about the "fringe" thefts? I think of people like the Wicked Witch of the West; Pelosi and her hubby have gotten filthy rich by trading on inside information. I could make the case that this isn't any different than actually sticking her hand in the till and taking cash.
