Am I crossing a line?

Not sure which category to put this in, so I chose Politics instead of Science or Culture (or maybe Philosophy), since this has become such a polarizing political issue.

I may be crossing a line here, and I'm open to any and all intelligent (rather than emotional) criticism anyone may offer. But the next time I hear anyone promoting child genital mutilation (incorrectly labeled as Gender Affirming Surgery), I want to have a serious discussion with that person. The conversation would go something like this:

"Can I have sex with your 10 year old daughter? No? Why not? If you don't think she's old enough to have sex with me now, why do you think she's old enough to mutilate her genitals so she can never ever have sex with me or any other guy?"

Would I be stepping across some imaginary line if I have this conversation?

Not only that, but I'm pretty sure that I'm legally responsible for my child's actions until he/she hits legal age. Why can I be forced to assume legal responsibility forthe actions of someone who can literally cut off his weiner or have her breasts removed without my consent, let alone my knowledge? How in the hell does that make any sense?

I'll get off my soapbox now. Fire away, Gulchers.

I think it's a good shock question, but be very careful how you wield it so as not to come off looking like a pedophile yourself.

The legal system is a mess, and I suspect on purpose to generate revenue for those who suck its blood. Making parents responsible for their minor children and then setting the children free to do whatever they want without parental knowledge or consent is only one of the many non-justice contradictions in the system. It's going to get worse, IMHO, before it all falls apart under its corrupt obesity.

I think you will just piss people off and turn them against you with the first question. After that, nothing you say will convince them. You gotta remember, these people don't THINK. They FEEL.

But what do I know. I also object to AR's use of "selfishness" for being overtly provocative (which she did on purpose, from all reports). I prefer the term "rational self-interest". Most people are never going to be convinced that selfishness is good. Deliberately offending them doesn't help.

Believe it or not, I'm not trying to offend with that question. Rather, I'd be hoping the shock value would at least make some people stop and question their positions. Of course, that may be hoping for far too much. Like a wise man once said to me, "Crap in one hand and want in the other, and see which fills first."

I would not place myself (yourself) into that conversation...you may get a broken nose. I would place the question in general.

I think the conversation should run along the lines of this gender stuff is bull crap and engaging into that realm is going to harm both you and your children.
Think: there wouldn't be any queers or pedophiles if it weren't for someone introducing that experience to another.

    Just my two cents.

You’re logic is correct but the delivery would be not well received.
Reading the Tea Leaves before me it’s only a matter of time before the lunatics decide that if they have the right to kill their offspring in the womb then they must also have the right to chemically castrate them in there as well. We KNOW this is coming. How can it not?

Oh no, my friend, you haven't crossed a line. When I went to public school, not one of my teachers would have dared even consider getting involved with us on issues like the teachers today. Guess what, I grew up, got educated, had a good employment record, married twice, Number one the ink didn't dry on the license.
But number two was a real winner! My half breed American Indian father would have scalped a teacher who suggested anything about sex, and you don't want to know what my Ashkenazi Jewish mother would have done. I raised my children, no drinking problems, or fusing with drugs, both boys went thru the Army like their father and my father, grandfather and great grandfathers. etc.....N

The simple fact is that there is no such thing as "gender affirming surgery." Why? Because it is impossible to change one's sex and gender is a term which refers to language - not human beings.

Evil people masquerading as doctors and psychotherapists can try to persuade impressionable youth that their discomfort in their own bodies should be celebrated. In a time not too far past, these people would lose their licenses and be hauled to jail. Now the inmates run the asylum.

I've had two of my daughters poisoned by this kind of crap. It happened in high school. And if I knew who had done it...

I wouldn't go that route. Their position is so wrong that there are many, many other alternative routes...

I'd probably just say, "That's too bad." and leave it at that.
