Does anyone else in here with the d'Anconia copper edition of the movie notice AV sync issues with David Kelley? I'm seeing that the movie clips he cuts to are in sync, but when it comes back to him speaking, things are a little off.

Lionell- Sounds like you are describing the commentary scenes. Do you notice it in all 3 or just one?

Yes - the area under discussion is the three commentaries at the start of the disk.

      1. Commentary #1 with David Kelley speaking. The sync seems immediately off. Then cut to the 'what is the root of money' scene and sync seems fine. Come back to David Kelley and it's obviously off again - expecially when the video does a closeup and he's speaking "crony capitalists". It is most obvious that the sync is off during his closeups.

      2. Commentary #2 - Mr Kelley opens and sync seems tighter than Commentary #1, but not perfect. Cut to the business lunch scene in the movie and sync is perfect. Come back to David Kelley and during the closeups I get the same "a bit off" feeling as the open. Sync is tighter than Commentary #1, but it's just not exactly "on". As we go from clips to commentary, the pattern holds. Clips good, commentary a bit off.

      3. Commentary #3 - Everything seems spot on in the commentary at the start. But by the time we arrive at the commentary about "from each according to his ability", things seem to be going off the rails again.

I'm playing the disk on an LG BD-390 unit. I've only got a few BluRays, but it's never shown this AV sync issue on any media before, including the AS2 feature disk.

Also, something else I notice now that i have watched disk 2 in its entirety: the audio levels among the various parts of disk2 are not equalized. The three commentaries are at the same level, but as we move to interviews, it is much louder. At "Behind the scenes", it drops back down. At "Reason TV", it goes back up.

Lionel, I've pulled some of these discs and tested them out and haven't been able to duplicate your results. Can you try playing it on your computer DVD player and see what happens?

Yeah - the AV sync issues appear to be a problem with my BluRay hardware. Problem disappears on a PC software player.

The volume level issue is present in both players, but isn't nearly as annoying.

          Thanks for looking into it.
