Atlas Shrugged III Who is John Galt? / Rated PG-13 for smoking, kissing and sensuality.

In the first two films which premiered in 2011 and 2012 the question was always being asked Who is John Galt? We were given lots of hints. He actually appeared in both films in the guise of actors Paul Johansson who also directed part one and D.B. Sweeney in part two. DBS has been in lots of TV series and films but is best remembered as Dish Boggett in the original TV series Lonesome Dove. In the first two AS films, these actors characters were always in the shadows.

The first two films related the story of what happens when “men of the mind” go on strike and disappear from society, which the man in the shadows talks them into doing since they see their futures rapidly disintegrating in the current social/political structure. Only two competent people seem to be hanging on and trying to keep their businesses alive. Dagny Taggart is one, trying to run the country’s biggest transcontinental railroad while fighting off her own government owned boob of a brother. Hank Rearden is the other, an industrialist who invents a fantastic light weight metal much stronger and durable than steel.

While these two protagonists fight on trying to make do and keep things going the government does everything it can to stop achievement and run things the socialist way. Sacrificing individuals for the good of all. As expected their plans have many unintended consequences and what happens is opposite of what they set out to achieve. Meanwhile, thinkers are asking “Who is John Galt?” while we know he is the mysterious character pulling the achievers and thinkers out of society to a place unknown. Another face unseen was the composer of the music for parts one and three. Elia Cmiral’s score added emotion and beauty to the series. His face is never seen. But he is heard by all.

Producer John Aglialoro obtained the rights to make this gigantic novel into a movie in the 1990’s. He began production of the first film within a day or two of when he would lose those rights and in 2011 the 1st film made it’s premiere followed by part two in 2012. Part three will make it’s debut on 9/12/14. I was privileged to see a special pre-premiere at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday 9/6/14, just before the World Premiere for the performers and families. Our showing included the participation by all of the primary people who created the film. After the show we also had a chance to meet the main cast members.

Budgetary considerations have caused these films to be created as best as possible under the restrictions of the bank account. But, ASIII finally answers the question Who is John Galt? And is worth the wait. He enters the film via actor Kristoffer Polaha and the Dagny Taggart role has been assumed by Laura Regan. Both did a commendable job with their parts. John Galt is in this film and out of the shadows for the first time and seen from the very beginning. It takes up right where the cliffhanger in part two ended. We find out where “the men of the mind” have been staying since John Galt has started his unique quest; “to stop the motor of the world”. We also get to see a working model of his very unique motor created outside government restraints. You need to see both parts one and two before watching this conclusion of the story. Both are available free on line. Like the men of “Galts Gulch”, the men who made this series are true American Heroes. I am pleased to have had a chance to meet them.

My personal experience with Ayn Rand was late one Sunday night when I was 15 years old at some time in 1961. I was channel surfing and although the film was already 15 minutes into the story I stopped when I encountered the 1949 Gary Cooper film The Fountainhead. I watched this film to its conclusion at about 1AM and paid the price the next day in school. Still the movie changed my life. Now 53 years later with the finish of Atlas Shrugged brought to the screen I feel a big chapter of my time on Earth is complete, thanks to Mr. Aglialoro, and co-producers Harmon Kaslow, Joan Carter and Scott DeSapio among others. I have been saying the answer to the question “Who is John Galt” is simple. He is a hero. I am glad to add the Producers of this series to my list of heroes.

Rated 4.0 out of 4.0 reasons to why the question has to be asked, “Who is John Galt?”.

Thanks for the review and background. Well done! (You forgot to mention drinking in your description of the ratings! Lots of drinking going on in this movie!)

John Aglialoro, his wife Joan Carter, Harmon Kaslow, Scott DiSapio, David Kelley, and all the others who spent their blood, sweat, tears, and loads of money to make these movies happen, are heroes! I wish them all the success they deserve in not only admiration, but DOLLARS.
