Not a stupid question at all. The uniparty (especially the Neo Communists) has been shredding the Constitution for decades and keeps getting away with it more and more.

We get the government we tolerate.

In the past, Americans would rise up and protest / stop what's going on.

To ensure that didn't happen again, the powers that be split families apart with leftist propaganda (men are oppressing you! Leave him and the gov will support you.) and creating and controlling the family court (That man is oppressing you! You deserve 70% of his stuff and he should have to pay you 70% of his pre-tax income or we'll put him in jail.)

They also inflated the currency incredibly so even two parents working FT can barely make ends meet. Even if they are still married, they have no time to go to PTA meetings to stop the child pornography being foisted upon their kids, let alone rise up and put a stop to the madness.

Where do we go from here? I think total financial and societal collapse in America, but I guess we'll find out together.

We get the government we tolerate. Government basically wants to stand in the way of what people want. Today half the country actually wants the great reset and the leftist plans. They are getting them, and we see the disastrous results. But the lefts care only about power, and NOT results.

Q: What are 2 things that most normal people are afraid of, regardless of party affiliation ?
      A: The IRS and guns.
Compound those together by arming the IRS and you get the answer to why people will "tolerate" this usurping of power. It's not the America we thought we lived in.

The government is protecting itself with the 86,000 new irs agents. It already controls education, farming, transportation, medical care, military. Whats left? Gun control and the money. Both of those will go within 5 years I think. Guns will be heavily taxed and transfers prohibited, and the money will be made in to a controllable thing with the central bank digital currency and the abolition of cash.

I'm afraid you are right. If I look at things from the viewpoint of a Narcissist (strict definition) then my nano particle of existence has been relatively nice, sans personal loses. But I worry for the rest of humanity and I'm not optimistic.

Unfortunately, I agree with you. We have lived in a good time. We had the benefits of the globalized trading, the internet, more personal freedoms in the usa at least, no local wars here, and we enjoyed the benefits of massive money printing, without much of the bad results of it.

Future generations will not have these things.

After reading your headline, my first thought is, which pipeline is he talking about, Keystone or Nordstream? Second thought, we did through our inaction…

The bigger question is how we react because something must be done. The FBI is bought and paid for, same goes for the DOJ, our power ultimately is in out states, we must reel in the power of the federal government. If we continue to do nothing, soon we’ll lose all our natural god given rights.

Our founding fathers even provided for us to recover if we were not successful at reeling in the power of the federal government, read the 2nd amendment, its short…

Okay fine. We go ahead and protest and all end up at Guantanamo or some Army stockade. Just like those poor soles at the Jan. 1 protest. We can't get diesel fuel enough to ship goods around the country and even ships use diesel. Biden took care of that for us. He is a Traitor!

This is happening and there is nothing we can do to stop it at this point in my opinion. I do think we can help steer this crash for a soft landing and we can steer on the upside. Every generation after the Gen-X are pushing for socialism/communism. Helping them see the light with laissez-faire capitalism by setting up parallel economies circumventing what is sure to come...

I think I lived in the best part of the USA experiment. Its just going downhill with this mob rule election system, and will crash just like in AS before it recovers.

I really wish you weren't right. But as the old adage goes; "wish in 1 hand and ...
Traitor seems too good of a word, that suggests allegiance at least to the other side. This is just plain selling out. Selling what you don't have the right to sell for personal gain. Is it stealing, looting or traitor. Maybe someone here can help explain it.

"So long as men, in the era of savagery,
had no concept of objective reality and
believed that physical nature was ruled
by the whim of unknowable demons –
no thought, no science, no production
    were possible. Only when men
discovered that nature was a firm,
predictable absolute were they able to
rely on their knowledge, to choose their
course, to plan their future and, slowly,
to rise from the cave. Now you have
    placed modern industry, with its
    immense complexity of scientific
precision, back into the power of
    unknowable demons – the unpredictable
power of the arbitrary whims of hidden,
ugly little bureaucrats. A farmer will not
invest the effort of one summer if he's
unable to calculate his chances of a
harvest. But you expect industrial giants
    – who plan in terms of decades, invest in
    terms of generations and undertake
    ninety-nine-year contracts – to continue
to function and produce, not knowing
what random caprice in the skull of what
random official will descend upon them
at what moment to demolish the whole
of their effort. Drifters and physical
laborers live and plan by the range of a
day. The better the mind, the longer the
range. A man whose vision extends to a
shanty, might continue to build on your
quicksands, to grab a fast profit and run.
A man who envisions skyscrapers, will
not. Nor will he give ten years of
unswerving devotion to the task of
inventing a new product, when he knows
that gangs of entrenched mediocrity are
juggling the laws against him, to tie
him,, restrict him and force him to fail,
but should he fight them and struggle
and succeed, they will seize his rewards
    and his invention...- Atlas Shrugged

One could argue that the President has the authority to "pressure" the agencies underneath him, to revoke the Federal permit needed for the 1,200-mile project. It could be as simple as him picking up the phone and telling the head of the agency in charge of said permit, "Cancel that permit or you are out of a job."

Most people need the income to feed their family, so they roll over and do as they are told. That's what we saw with the vaccine mandates (which weren't even laws). People just went out and got the clot shot just because their employer told them it was going to be a requirement of employment. I was shocked how few pushed back!

Even my Christian neighbor just up and got the clot shot when his employer, IBM, said it would eventually be required. I was aghast! He had no backbone. He could have filed a religious exemption or simply said NO, but he just rolled right over and injected himself with the bioweapon.

Back to your question though. The reason why he shut down the pipeline is because he's following Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals", in which you...

    1. CREATE A PROBLEM: "Oh no! We're having a gas shortage and prices are through the roof! How did this happen? It's not my fault, I'm just the President!"

    2. GENERATE A REACTION: "Oh no! People are now rioting in the streets, demanding lower gas prices! Whatever will we do? As your President, surely I can help the government can come up with a solution."

    3. SOLUTION: "My fellow Americans, we've come up with a solution to the high gas prices! We're going to institute a Smart Phone App that rations the amount of gas you can buy (recently instituted in Sri Lanka) and it'll be tied to your new Social Credit Score (better not disparage the government!) that is tied to your programmable central bank digital currency (that we can turn off at any time). And while we are at it, we're going to nationalize the gas industry to ensure this doesn't happen again! (seize the means of production)."

And all the sheep, that aren't falling dead from heart attacks, will go along with it.

    Prepare accordingly.

Once the government controls education, medical care, food production, the money, transportation, its kind of hard to resist them. If you are successful in resisting, you go to jail

As for the first part of your question, he's following the orders of his globalist lords and masters.
They want to drive us back to the Dark Ages, where the global overlords are in charge, and the rest of us are slaves.
Remember they way Europe was described in Atlas Shrugged? That's what they want on the whole planet. But in order to do that, they have to crash us first.
Once America falls, the rest will be a domino effect.

The Executive Branch has long been a problem since presidents started relying heavily on Executive Orders. One can certainly point to Theodore Roosevelt as the modern progenitor of this unhappy state of affairs, which then took off under Woodrow Wilson and then FDR. And it has only gotten worse since WW II with each executive leader using that power to undo the previous executive in a never-ending tit-for-tat.

I'm still trying to figure out how it should work for Executive Orders. Obviously the President should be able to direct the work of the Executive Branch of government. But he shouldn't be able to usurp the authority which should remain in the other two branches - especially the oft-abused "rule-making" authority which bureaucrats use to effectively create laws. The answer may be as simple as excising many of these bureaucratic agencies - thus eliminating their presence and with it anyone to seek more control.

Not a stupid question, at all.
A better question would be: why have we stood by, and ALLOWED Brandon to do these things?
"We the People", and all that.

Just how can we stop these things Biden has done. Look at how far the protestors got during the vietnam war. Basically it was only the fact we were losing the war that caused us to get out. Same with the Afghanistan war. Probably will be the same with our help we are givign to Ukraine.

Leftists only want to WAGE war so as to print more money and keep the establishment rich.

It was a major stab in the back at every nation in Western Europe -- all of which were likely to surrender to Putin as soon as the weather gets cold this winter. Which still may happen but will not be as effective now.

I think it has more to do with the Federal control of the land or whatnot where the pipeline is being built. Thus ceasing work as the Federal Govt will basically raid or destroy it because they are violating whatever BS Order was being pushed on the building of the pipeline.

Cutting that really damaged a lot of aspects of the US economy and energy policy. Wasn't there another branch to be built go to go refineries in Colorado or something? or from Colorado? (I think i'm mis-remembering some aspect now. work has turned my brain to mush lately!)

You should understand by now, Biden isn't capable doing anything beyond pooping his pants and mumbling incoherent, stupid platitudes. He sat in his basement the entire campaign. He is, by all reasonable definition, an illegitimate pResident. Anyway you look at it, this was a coup.
Who every actually controls this country clearly wants to destroy it. And by all accounts, doing a damn fine job of it.
We are witnessing the second burning of Rome. There is no authority, there is no Constitution, this is a raging dumpster fire.
"Atlas Shrugged" Is no long in the fiction section of your local public library.

    Resist.

Biden told us that he wanted a "great reset", and the end to fossil fuels. He has been methodically acting to make these two promises come true. He wants gasoline to cost $10 a gallon to get people to willingly end fossil fuels. he is using up our strategic reserve also so there is less fossil fuel available, and he is stopping leases to drill for more.
