I got my BluRay part 2 and have been watching it several times this last week. My favorite scene is now when Dagny visits Danagger just before he disappears. It's very poignant. Unlike the speech that d'Anconia gives at the wedding to hostile strangers, Danagger's philosophical lament is a natural commiseration between friends and colleagues. I realize now how effective that sort of conversation is for bringing out philosophical pay dirt. The wedding speech can be perceived as a bit too preachy -- but two friends discussing their predicament -- what could be more natural than that.

And Arye Gross as Ken Danagger is such a likable guy. I was practically crying after he finished speaking. I want to live in the Gulch with people like that.

There are a couple scenes where she seems aware of someone looking at her. It's pretty subtle and I don't recall noticing it at the theater. But watching the BluRay I see it now and it is intentional. I presume she is sensing JG, since in the book we know he was following her around.

I pre-order a few days ago and not only saved 86 cents (but really 43 cents in this economy) and I got the DVD the day I watched Part I. So I watched Part I last night and will watch Part II tonight. Seamless viewing!!!!!!!!

I received my copy of Part II last night, the same night I watched Part I. Tonight I'll watch part II, kind of seamless really.

I've read the book a number of years ago. The casting directors who selected the characters did an excellent job because they matched what I envisioned while reading the book.

But, Becktel's brother playing Wyatt is a hoot. Last night I learned this because Becktel mentioned the movies his brother's movies.

I got my copy of the Freedom Works DVD just before hubby decided to upgrade to HDTV and Blu-Ray. Guess I'll have to get the D'Anconia Blu-Ray now. ;)

It is not for sale at Target. and not on the new dvd release list on moviefone which is the first on the list when google searched. If it was not for being on AS e-mail list it could have been weeks until I found out. Is this lack of marketing or discriminating practices based on ideology? Im a little pissed I looked and didn't find it but shrugging it off on my way to the store. :S

Thanks for checking it out! The BluRay is for my son (I'm limping along with ordinary HiDef), so looks like he'll be having company Monday watching AS2. Can't wait!!!

Thanks, it's a nickname I was given almost 30 years ago by the lawyer I worked for. Said I dealt with opposing counsel better than any of his junior lawyers Also came in handy raising two sons on my own. :-D

    Hello DragonLady,

    I love your screen name.

I haven't yet received mine either. If it doesn't come by Saturday I am going to go buy a copy locally. I can always pass it on.
    Regards,
    O.A.

Am I the only one who hasn't yet received my "pre-ordered" dvds???? Got a notification from UPS that the new "scheduled" delivery date is February 27. If this is pre-order, next time I'll wait for Amazon to get it and order from them. With my Prime membership, I'll get it the next day. Guess I'll have to watch it on streaming, Who knows when I'll actually get my dvds??? :-(

I loved the 1st cast and I think the 2nd cast killed the movie.

The 1st cast had chemistry and seemed like they were doing the movie because they wanted to.

The 2nd cast it felt more like they were doing and job for the money and may not have even wanted to be there all the time.

Francisco is one of the changes that really bugged me. The 1st movie he really did seem like a playboy. In the 2nd movie they pick a gangster from Caprica. He is a great actor but no playboy type.

Dagny also really bugged me. She gained 14 years and did not seem to have the zest for getting things done. I know the age thing should not be such a big deal but it just fully changed the perception of the part that was built in the 1st movie.

I loved it when they finally got the railroad built, are taking the first train ride and that magnificent bridge comes into view!

I am so glad to see someone that has the same feeling as I did about this movie. I went to see the 1st one the day that it came out and saw it 6 times in the theater. I even took some friends to it. After it came out I purchased copies of the DVD and Blu-Ray for 3 or 4 people.

Now the 2nd one came out and they changed very actor.

Dagny aged about 10 year and gained 40 lbs.
Hank I did not like he just did not have any excitement to him.
Francisco went from a playboy to a gangster
Eddie went from a shy office kid to some sort of football player?

I saw part II 1 time and I did not like it at all. At this point if we have the same cast as part 1 I will see 3 the day it opens. If we have the cast from 2 in part 3 I will wait for it on Netflix.

I did not purchase a copy of part II on DVD/Blu and have no plan to.

There I hope this is better for the trolls that think if someone did not like the movie they did not see it.

I do, too!! It's one of my favorite places. I like Savannah, too.
There is an incredible cigar/Scotch bar right in the heart of Charleston. My husband and I went there, probably 16 (yikes!), years ago, and it was just gorgeous inside. Deep leather and velvet club chairs and couches, dark mahogany raised panel wainscoting, high ceilings. Very old school men's club feel.

Got my D'Anconia Copper edition pre-order yesterday. Lots of bonus features - although a bit too much focus on Libertarians for my taste.
