It looks on the surface a bit wokey. I read the 4 original Tolkien books. The first 3 films that were made were excellent. But if Tolkien didn't write it, I wouldn't trust it. Sooner or later the libs have to defile it and make it political.

I swear that there will be red and blue boxes of Cheerios on the shelf soon. People will be boycotting the other color if it's not available.

I've read the four main Tolkien books as well, then ran into "The Silmarilian" (sp?) in a used book store but haven't the chance to read it yet.

"But if Tolkien didn't write it, I wouldn't trust it." True for me as well. I wouldn't expect as good a story as Tolkien could tell, but the effects can still be wonderful and it doesn't have to be loaded with subtle or blatant left wing political messaging.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seemed to me Tolkien's works were steeped in Eurocentric history, myth, and lore, which gave it a certain appeal. Wokeness erases or greatly minimizes that theme - of course, one of the goals of wokeness is to erase or demean anything "white European" so no surprise here.

Yes I saw a few antiwhite faces in the trailer. You can't watch a major picture anymore without a rainbow cast. I remember I was 20 or so when I read them I was on the edge of my seat, heart racing as they climbed the mountain. Then there was dread. I felt real dread from Sauron. What a great author.

The books were great. The first movies kinda bored me. Digital special effects does not impress me as stop motion photography does, though I enjoyed the Jurassic Parks, other Jurassic whatevers and that digital remake of King Kong. Based on what I've read here, I'm glad I quit watching the progressive degradation of so-called Tolkien flicks.

I still have my Canon 514-XL stop motion camera. Uses Super-8 film cartridges, I made many fun clay and Lego movies in the 1980's. I like editing real film, cutting and gluing with sprocket holes in my hands. Video editing software drives me nuts. Quentin Tarantino still prefers real film over video.

Women heroes, queers all over the place and trying way to hard to make them seem human are sure signs of wokeness.

They almost ruined the new series, Picard but pulled it out slightly, enough so it is tolerable to watch, same thing with Pike/pre Kirk, StarTrek. The tie in's to the original StarTrek series is compelling enough to make you want to watch...I've only displayed my bow finger once or twice...
Picard turns out to be a gem, while Pike is unpredictable like the original S.T. series.

This is about The Lord Of The Rings franchise, but all the new Star Trek and Star Wars material is dripping with left wing crap and I don't even bother with it. One of the most idiotic woke insertions I've ever seen was in the latest "Viking" series they put a black female in charge of a Viking capital city in Norway in ca 850 A.D.! The worst part is I'm sure the public school educated younger generation is so clueless regarding history they undoubtedly found it believable and normal. Wokeness erasing European history.

The last Gender Wars film I watched was...who cares. The one with the spaceship stocked by 100% women. Han Solo was a bitch who Princess Leia smacks like the good old days when Kirk smacked women. Men were made out to be emotional, impulsive, boyish, stupid. Women were made out to be wise, careful, dominant. A nice slap in the face role reversal which was all the movie had to offer. It wasn't Star Wars. It was Gender Wars. Pressure treated with political wokeness exuding from it's engine nozzles.

I watched it with a couple of female friends. They loved it. I told them it was role-reversal. They said "Ha-ha how does it feel?!!" I asked if it was a good idea to teach little girls to beat up little boys. Why should women aspire to become the worst parts of being male?

Right in the beginning, when the written paragraphs of the story starts rolling back into the screen, as it did in the first Star Wars film, immediately it was obvious, "blah blah blah blah...#RESISTANCE..." Hashtag resistance. I could have left the theater immediately. Ahh but I had to hang out with those two biotches.

    From The Bee:
“ I would say the script sounded like it was written by a drunk middle-schooler, but that would be an insult to both alcohol and middle-schoolers. Every line is a tired-out cliché, stolen from a bad movie and mashed together with all the verbal dexterity of a crack-addled ferret. I cannot in good conscience describe the plot, because the word "plot" has nothing to do with this fulminant disaster. I've had nightmares that made more sense than whatever abomination of the English language this is.”

The interesting part is.....if I were BIPOC I’d feel kind of insulted. If I’m supposed to hate white people why are they trying graft my race into storylines that were written by old white men? Come up with something new and let’s see if it can stand on it’s own merits instead of piggybacking off the most hated race’s stories.

Because the purpose is to destroy the hated race’s stories along with the hated race. An interesting line said by a black character in the movie “Gladiator” is, “First they have to kill your name, then they can kill you.”
