Mental Health Crisis with America's Kids

I thought I’d mention this here and get your thoughts and opinions. As some here know, I’m a father. I’m also a father of a child with neurological injury. When you’re a parent you normally get to know many families with children. Being a parent in America over the past couple decades has been, to put it mildly, mind-blowing. Not only am I a parent – but, like many of you here I’m observant and philosophical. I’m also well-trained and well-heeled in science due to my work.

I wanted to mention here something I’m seeing and something that a lot of people are seeing and that the MSM doesn’t seem to want to cover. Children are really, really suffering with mental health problems. My own son is seeing a therapist. He’s doing well. But, it was clear when I would talk to him to try to help him with his struggles he wasn’t listening to me at all. Teenager. My wife and I were talking last night and realized that at least half the kids we know from 12 to 18 are in therapy. One little girl we know who’s 16 is probably going to be institutionalized. This breaks my heart. Her parents are great people and excellent parents. At school it seems that bullying has stepped up after the covid shutdown. My pediatrician is transitioning into retirement, slowing down. He and I are close, and he said he’s thinking about going into phone therapy for kids because that’s a majority of his work lately: Panicked parents calling asking for help their distressed kids.

There’s a lot to unpack here. But, I am sure that a few things have changed from my generation to this recent batch of kids. These kids get a lot of screen time. They rarely do outside activities. Most don’t do any outdoor activities. These kids are often repeatedly bombarded in schools with messages about transgender stuff and, as in my son’s previous high school in California, woke antifa-like rhetoric (white privilege, destroying people’s property to “get their attention”, etc.). This stuff is very hard on kids, in my opinion. It’s confusing and mostly a message rife with anger. Kids don’t need this crap. I know several transgender kids. There are a lot of kids claiming to be gay. Whether or not one thinks that’s a good thing, both sides agree that it is associated with mental illness/suicide. Perhaps it’s just correlation. Perhaps it really is due to bullying that these kids get for their proclivity.

There are a few 300-pound gorillas in the room in terms of chemical environment. The CDC childhood vaccine schedule has exceeded the EPA MCLs for mercury levels, apparently by mistake. Oopsy. That doesn’t help. And, it has recently come to light that the source of the arsenic we have been finding in developmentally disabled children was from fruit puree baby foods produced in China. The media refuses to talk about this. These things are terrible for a young person’s brain. Not a peep in the media… Glyphosate is in a lot of things we eat – from our breakfast cereal, to pasta, to our salads. The jury’s still out on that in terms of what the health effects are.

Then, recently I heard Stephan Molyneux say something that stuck in my craw. The left and the right will say they’re “for the children”. Yet…If one’s for the children how can they be in favor of running up $30T in national debt (not even counting unfunded mandates)? My brain’s been chewing on that and I think he’s got a good point. Kids aren’t stupid. For them to just watch the news and see how we’re f’ing up the country has got to be tough. I know my son notices it. I see it in his questions about things.

This seems like a long, twisted rant probably. But it’s an inquiry. Do you see these things too in kids you know? What are your thoughts? How does it bode for America’s future? I find it all very concerning.

Something happened beginning with the Millennial Generation that has made them unable to cope. I know of several 30 somethings now that had what appeared to be “good” upbringings in affluent families. When these kids graduated college and hit the real world they just crashed and burned. Moved back in with Mom and Dad and/or Mom and Dad had to sue for custody of the grandchild because Millennial Meghan was just screwed right up.

The cognitive dissonance that all of us, especially our kids, are seeing is beyond anything I had ever seen. Atlas Shrugged has lots of suicides in it. I think people underestimate her perception on the mental health issue. She totally nailed it.

I can also confirm what is happening t the kids today, two of my four daughters fell victim.

I just think this contrived assault on our freedom through our children. This is Marxism... It's all being engineered...

free media becomes propaganda, schools teaching becomes indoctrination, family support becomes government support, freewill becomes sheepople.

Most schools actively push vulnerable children to abandon their parents. Clubs like Gay Stright Alliance (in most schools) actively tell the children that they must demand that their parents support this cause, even celebrate it.

Two solutions: (1) Re the poison food coming from China: the government of the United States should put an embargo on China and all other totalitarian states.
    (2) We should abolish public education per se, except technical training in the military, and police academies; we should turn education over to private enterprise, and home schooling.

Hard to know where to start here. I think it was George Carlin that said, "In my day we lined up for milk and cookies, today they line up for medication."

IMHO, based on some of the subject matter kids are being brainwashed with today, I am not surprised how messed up they are. There has always been good parents and bad parents, but the education system has evolved into a colossal failure. Kids are not stupid and they may know they are being lied to or intimidated, but have no defense or way out of their situation. Cognitive breakdown is the result in too many cases. Too many are confused as to who they are or are placed on a guilt trip because of who they are and there is no escape for them. It's nice to see parents fighting for their kids. They are waking up to the fact the education system isn't what it's supposed to be. Perhaps some blame can be placed on chemicals in the environment, but I think the schools are where the primary damage is being done.

To back up what you said - I understand that Biden actually drafted and sent a letter to school boards across America essentially directing them, "Here, use this letter to report parents who seem mad at your meetings about CRT and transgender issues as terrorists and send it back to us and we'll go after them." I struggle to wrap my head around that. and perhaps the the point now. Just get so outlandish that most of us stand there flat-footed, mouth agape in amazement....

As I watched the vitriol levied against parents standing up for their rights at board meetings and being called terrorists, racists, and white supremacists I couldn't help but recall the civil rights movements in the '50s and '60s. The black people standing up for their rights were not called terrorists, racists, or black supremacists, but were called "civil rights activists" and still are today. These predominately white people are civil rights advocates as well.

My sister in law is a past teacher of the year in a local school district. She is experiencing severe behavioral dysfunction in many of her students - defiance to flat out aggression. She is near retirement and is about ready to say adios if the school district doesn't get it act together.
Another scenario involves Covid puppies and lack of socialization from the lock downs. My purebred dog breeder and agility clients remake on how unruly the young dogs are in the show ring. Some show aggression to other dogs. Seems to be a pattern of commonality.
Fauci et al must be held accountable.

I think these people know exactly what they are doing. They are following their leader and his Plan. And I'm not talking about Biden. No regard for children. No regard for parents. They don't care about anyone other than their own. They think they'll be exempt from any problem they help to come into play.

There is a serious problem. I think it's mostly the easy-to-use screens and all the things kids don't do b/c the screens are there.

I think the COVID restrictions played a role, although I suspect the problems associated with screens led to acceptance of the restrictions persisting after there were good tests, vaccines, and treatments; rather than the restrictions causing the mental problems.

I think this is a bigger problem than people realize.
