Ernies and Ottos competed across the street from each other in the tiny city of Mendota selling liquor, 3 cases of Pfeiffer's beer $9.99. Era1968

There was a “gas war” in my little NoDak town way back when…I remember the price got down to 25 cents a gallon. A person could fill up and buy a case of 3.2 beer for less than $10….even if they were underage…I heard…😇…

I'd give you ten upvotes for the Fords eat Chevy's one! I so hate the SBC. That engine is so overrated it is sickening. Love the Rat Fink! Reminds me of grade school.
One day I'm going to get back at all the idiots who put SBC's in T-buckets, by putting an Ecoboost in a split window corvette and a "Power by Ford" logo on the back!

Ah, but back in that day we could kind of afford 5 miles to the gallon fast cars...

My 61 Ford Starliner with a donated 402 4 speed got 10 miles to the gallon if I took it real easy back and fourth to work and never had to fix it daily but couldn't resist tinkering with it all the time looking for that magic combination of gas, air and timing.

Rat Fink brought back some memories of driving around the prairie in stripped jalopies. My cousin, a FORD fan, defined his F.O.R.D.s as “Fix or Repair Daily” or “Found On Road, Dead”. A bit later in time the Pontiac GTO of my friend was aptly named “Gas, Tires and Oil”. Of course, my Chevy Orange Chevelle SS was even worse at burning all three.

OMG! What a collection. I started selling Ford’s in 1973 till retiring 3 years ago. Now I do some part time at the store. Watched Big Daddy air brush sweat shirts at the Detroit Autorama in Cobo Hall back in the day. As always, 🎶Thanks for the memories 🎶

Still have my '73 Corvette (bought new) and it doesn't burn a drop because I rebuilt the engine (L-82) for other reasons and still haven't reinstalled. 😟

Nice selection but being a Chevy guy, I have to take exception to the last BDR meme. 😉
