Empty Christmas stockings? Shipping Problems? Don’t blame COVID, blame California and the fedgov EPA

Excerpt:
"The conventional wisdom from the left is that COVID is the reason that shipping containers are in the waters off California with no stevedores or truckers available to take care of them. The implication, of course, is that if people would stop being selfish and take the vaccines, the whole problem would magically vanish. That’s nonsense. As a couple of astute articles explain, the problem is that California has passed two laws—one for “climate change” and the other as a sop to the unions—that destroyed much of California’s trucking industry. Add in woes unique to the industry and COVID payments that discourage people from working and...voila!...empty Christmas stockings.
...
Sundance, at Conservative Treehouse, expands on this, explaining that the EPA reached an agreement with the California Air Resource Board...

...to shut down semi tractor rigs that were non-compliant with new California emission standards. [snip] In effect, what this 2020 determination and settlement created was an inability of half the nation’s truckers from picking up anything from the Port of LA or Port of Long Beach. Virtually all private owner operator trucks and half of the fleet trucks that are used for moving containers across the nation were shut out.

In an effort to offset the problem, transportation companies started using compliant trucks (low emission) to take the products to the California state line, where they could be transferred to non-compliant trucks who cannot enter California. However, the scale of the problem creates an immediate bottleneck that builds over time. It doesn’t matter if the ports start working 24/7, they are only going to end up with even more containers waiting on a limited amount of available trucks."

Thanks to the commifornia government, there will be shortages all over America, raising prices on EVERYTHING and increasing profits for big corporations while crushing small businesses across America.

This IS THE PLAN of the current CORRUPT government of Commifornia and the federal government.

The following comes from Jolene Hayes via a faculty colleague at FIT:

On September 20th, I was fortunate enough to be invited by the Center for International Trade and Transportation to moderate a break-out session at the California Supply Chain Success Initiative Solutions Summit - a brainstorming session focused on breaking the supply chain log jam we've all been reading and hearing about. Hosted by the Port of Long Beach, this event was kicked off by John Porcari and Lucinda Lessley and attended by California's major port directors, industry stakeholders, labor, and State and federal partner agencies to come up with some short- and long-term solutions. I knew this issue was multifaceted, but it was enlightening having all of the boots on the ground in one room to talk about it. We would begin to talk about the gate hours at the ports - what if we open up 24/7? Two major San Pedro Bay terminal operators told me - "we aren't even at our maximum during regular [http://hours...the/?trk=public_post_share-update_update-text]hours...the container dwell times have risen from 2 days to 8 days on the docks. Dock workers spend 30-40 percent of their time just moving containers around on the docks." A similar story was told about container dwell times at warehouses - it's increased from one day to NINE days. When I asked [http://why...the/?trk=public_post_share-update_update-text]why...the resounding response was "labor shortage" at the warehouses. There are plenty of dock workers - they are well-paid and more than willing to work. In the warehouses, I heard a different story - impossibly long hours, mandatory overtime, minimum or near-minimum wage, often no [http://benefits...they/?trk=public_post_share-update_update-text]benefits...they cannot find workers. Shipping margins are thin with jumps in prices for space in containers, trucking and rail already putting upward pressure on prices for [http://goods...so/?trk=public_post_share-update_update-text]goods...so my assertion is that there hasn't been a push for raising warehouse workers' salaries. Another message that came from a distributor - COVID's impacts on operations, specifically social distancing is impacting warehouse productivity - this is particularly true with managing breaks. Another issue - vessel operators have been dumping everything at the Ports of LA/LB and skipping Port of Oakland - an unintended consequence...imports/exports with origins/destinations in the Bay Area are being trucked to/from So Cal and exacerbating the trucking shortage. Many more issues were discussed, but the best part has been watching what has transpired since. Following this workshop, direct service to Port of Oakland is now in the works, six major BCO's have committed to going 24/7, and the SPB Ports are going 24/7. Perhaps they'll be able to save Christmas after [http://all...but/?trk=public_post_share-update_update-text]all...but as a parent...I'm not taking any chances. #transportation #shipping #warehouses #supplychain

I recall one Christmas we had fruit and candy mother made in our stockings along with some hand carved toys my father made. We survived. We were happy.

We had homemade Christmas items, too, but also store bought stuff - made in USA as the article points out. I'm looking for ways to get back to that. Interesting that the article also points out the Neo Communist (Xiden) regime has been working to kill the "Made In USA" that Trump tried to re-ignite.
